RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 29, 2009 From a 12oz. bottle poured into a English Pint at 42°. Color is gold with just a touch of orange and good carbonation yet almost no head. Aroma is a light scent of malt with a little caramel showing. Taste is soft and sweet. Starting with light/medium body it goes down easy with a smooth feel. Finish is a mildly sweet malty taste of caramel, honey and apple with just a hint of bitterness. After taste is clean as the flavors drop leaving a faint sweetness lingering. This is an easy drinking clean brew, it just has no Amber qualities to it. (Bottle courtesy of jbye4334) TampaBrew (746), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 16, 2009 Pours orange. Nose is bready, hints of toasted malt and some citrus. Flavor is watery malt, boring, but drinkable. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 3, 2009 (bottle). Golden amber color with light cloudiness. Medium off white head. Light malt and citrus (orange) aroma. Malty orange peel flavor. Short duration. Smooth finish. Slick texture. Soft to moderate carbonation. Spare lacing. nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Sep 30, 2009 Draft at GABF 2009. I think some reviewers on here may have confused this with the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is a different beer. Clear golden-amber in color with a small white head. Aroma is caramel, grain, and mild floral hops. Flavor is caramel and pale malt, only slightly sweet, light spices, and some Noble hops that mostly contribute to the bittering. Palate is fairly light with medium carbonation. Overall pretty average. TimE (1300), Tokyo, Japan Sep 2, 2009 Light golden color. Buttery vanilla, light bourbon nose. Very butterscotchy, bourbony mouth. Very smooth. Nice. TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2009 351 mL bottle. Amber-gold with a small head. Nice lacing. In aroma and flavour this is closer to an English bitter. Caramel, earthy hops, and spice in both. Solid session ale. Floral hop aroma. Clear golden coloured hoppy and slightly citrus flavoured with a little dryness in a crisp and creamy malt finish. phaleslu (428), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 11, 2009 Draft. Not a whole lot to this one, just a straightforward, nondescript amber ale. Pours a clear amber, light-to-medium off white head. Aroma is a little sweet, a little malt. Flavor is also somewhat sweet, and not much else to speak of- was hoping for some hops but they seemed hidden. Light on the palate, very smooth. While this one is pedestrian, the Bourbon Barrel Ale is a lot of fun to drink, and chances are if you can find this one you can find that one.
