Commercial Description:
Kentucky Ale is a marriage between two classic beer styles, Irish Red Ale and English Pale Ale. The Kentucky Ale mashing program uses: • the finest 2-row imported Harrington malt, • select caramel malt varieties grown both domestically and abroad, • a pinch of wheat malt for a smooth, creamy taste. Varieties of the English hops East Kent Goldings and Fuggles impart a spicy yet soft, floral aroma without a harsh, bitter aftertaste. These ale hops are used to balance the sweetness of the malt and are an important flavor component of Kentucky Ale. Light copper in color, the unique body and character of Kentucky Ale is heavily influenced by the water, drawn from aquifers in the limestone underlying the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

From a 12oz. bottle poured into a English Pint at 42°. Color is gold with just a touch of orange and good carbonation yet almost no head. Aroma is a light scent of malt with a little caramel showing. Taste is soft and sweet. Starting with light/medium body it goes down easy with a smooth feel. Finish is a mildly sweet malty taste of caramel, honey and apple with just a hint of bitterness. After taste is clean as the flavors drop leaving a faint sweetness lingering. This is an easy drinking clean brew, it just has no Amber qualities to it. (Bottle courtesy of jbye4334)

Pours orange. Nose is bready, hints of toasted malt and some citrus. Flavor is watery malt, boring, but drinkable.

Draft at GABF 2009. I think some reviewers on here may have confused this with the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, which is a different beer. Clear golden-amber in color with a small white head. Aroma is caramel, grain, and mild floral hops. Flavor is caramel and pale malt, only slightly sweet, light spices, and some Noble hops that mostly contribute to the bittering. Palate is fairly light with medium carbonation. Overall pretty average.

351 mL bottle. Amber-gold with a small head. Nice lacing. In aroma and flavour this is closer to an English bitter. Caramel, earthy hops, and spice in both. Solid session ale.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 11/10/2008 Floral hop aroma. Clear golden coloured hoppy and slightly citrus flavoured with a little dryness in a crisp and creamy malt finish.

Draft. Not a whole lot to this one, just a straightforward, nondescript amber ale. Pours a clear amber, light-to-medium off white head. Aroma is a little sweet, a little malt. Flavor is also somewhat sweet, and not much else to speak of- was hoping for some hops but they seemed hidden. Light on the palate, very smooth. While this one is pedestrian, the Bourbon Barrel Ale is a lot of fun to drink, and chances are if you can find this one you can find that one.
