thegreenrooster	2.6 Four String Hilltop Heritage Lager Pour is a clear gold with a large fizzy white head. Aroma is cheap malt. Flavor is more grainy malt with a slight bitterness. Cheap macro lager vibes which is fine for summer day drinking it's just not all that exciting. Saturday, May 22, 2021

The aroma and flavor have lightly roasted malts, sweet malts, dark fruit, chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, thin body, bourbon and vanillalast through the finish, good beer but it needed more body. Brown-black pour with some brown around the edges and a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Sparse patches of lace. Aroma of bourbon, malt and vanilla. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, chocolate fudge and roast malt. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good all around. Tuesday, August 25, 2020

Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Medium to full body with flavors of charred malt, chocolate and mild coffee. The finish is roasty with a malty aftertaste. Partial rings of lace. Stone fruit, hops and malt aroma. Medium body with flavors of tropical fruit, herbal hops and malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a stone fruit and hop aftertaste. Parting thoughts: 2nd annual city wide collaboration brew made for Columbus Craft Beer week. I liked this one a lot more than last year’s offering. A pity, I only bought a six. Jimmyangst	4.2 Four String Hilltop Heritage Lager It's always been hard to find a really good lager beer in the U.S.A. When Yuengling came to Ohio, I thought I'd hit the jackpot. Four String steps it up a notch with this beer. Malty, full-flavored, with a clean finish. And I feel like the brewer somehow resisted the (apparently irresistible amongst American microbrewers) urge to throw another few pounds of finishing hops into the tank. They really nailed it with this one. Pretty darn sure that all the sugars come from barley malt, not adjuncts like corn or rice sugar that give lagers a tinny, "sharp" flavor. The best endorsement for this delicious lager comes from the fact that I've served it to both my Beer Snob Friends and those who buy Bud Light by the case, and they've universally said, "hell yeah, I'll have one more!" This beer tastes like beer is supposed to taste, it's not head-splittingly piney, it won't burn the tastebuds off your tongue, and it's not a pitiful Corporate attempt to squeeze 4.2% alcohol into a can by the cheapest means possible. It's a thoughtful, straightforward, honest, very well-crafted beer that will make you say, "I'd like another!" Saturday, December 30, 2017
