Portsmouth Hop Harvest Ale - Cascade And Comet
Taster pour on tap at the 13th annual NH brewfest. It's a honey brown with tons of sparkle, finger-width creamy foam head. Aroma is subtle herbal. Taste has a pretty traditional/West Coast feel with bitter grapefruit, resin and cracker backbone. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation with dry, crisp finish. Overall, mostly bitter with virtually no aroma. Too carbonated. Not floating my boat.

December 27, 2021 Pours hazy mango into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Sweet grapefruit and pine aromas. Earthy tangerine and hot caramel upfront turning to sourdough and pine in the lasting finish. This is a totally different recipe than earlier this year... hazy and clocks in at 7% - rating is the re-rate - minor tweaks with the same end result... Original Rating: March 22, 2021 - 6/4/6/4/13 Pours clear deep gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes leaving trailing spiders. Candy corn, sourdough and treacle aromas. Sharp with cardboard, sourdough, smarties and hot caramel upfront turning to dry earthy hop in the medium length finish. More west coast than NEIPA.
