Dark brown colour. Low, pale brown head. Toasty, chocolatey aroma with grapefruity hops. Dry, yet malty flavour with lots of hoppy bitterness. House character here, if hops give house character. Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden Dec 29, 2007 (Draught at Glenfiddich Warehouse No 68, Stockholm, 16 Dec 2007) Dark brown colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark rye bread. Malty, fruity taste with dark fruit, Christmas spices (ginger, clove) and roasted, slightly bitter coffee notes in the finish. Another nice brew from Öland. Egon (269), Gothenburg, Sweden Dec 22, 2007 Draught. Dark, black red with brown head. Roatsed and dry aroma, Very dry for being a christmas beer in my book. See that it is noted as a stout here and it is black and dry roasted so that fits I guess. The name Julefröjd, Christmas joy, however leads to something else. I like it however. Dry finish. gnoff (2540), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 16, 2007 (Draught at The Rover) Clear very dark deep red color, small brown head. Green hops, green pepper, smoke scent. Sweet and bitter taste, also roasted malt and coffee. Metallic aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, high bitterness. Also lots of nettles and juniper just about everywhere. ekstedt (1739), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 16, 2007 Draught at the Rover, Göteborg, Sweden. Dark brown, almost black, with a small beige head. Roasted aroma with coffee notes, but the dominant character is a spicy and floral hop profile with elderberries, grapefruit, neezles, and green pepper. Medium bodied and smooth, dry with a long bitter finish.
