Jeppe (2635), Ølbutikken, Denmark Mar 13, 2007 Unclear deep amber colored with a thin off-white head. Dominating grassy hoppy aroma with a good deal of sweet malt and toffee. Fine balance. Flavor has a sweet middle with some nice bitter hoppy edges and a candied sugary touch. Again balance is the word. Notes of berries and a hint of alcohol. An exteremly drinkable beer, I wouldn’t call it a bw though, more a well-hopped american strong ale.
saxo (2119), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Jan 19, 2008 Bottle. Nice head with ok duration. Color is dark amber. Aroma and taste are complex and rich with lots of hops, caramel and malt. Good long finish. SilkTork (3853), Rochester, Kent, England Jan 18, 2008 Bottle, at London Shindig, August 2007. Sweet and hot. Straightforward barleywine. Some clean spree with hints of cinnamon. Quite enjoyable, though alcohol shows too much! beerbuzzmontreal (2697), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 4, 2008 Pours a cloudy reddish amber color with a thin whjite head. Solid aroma of resinous and spicy hops with caramel. Very good flavor of resinous and spicy hops with a sturdy caramel malt and a strong bitter finish. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. Rune (1508), Tromsø, Norway Dec 28, 2007 500ml swing-top bottle bought at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen in August 07. After almost half a year in my cellar the sediments cling to the bottom, so the russet body colour has got a good clarity. Thin, beige head. Great smell of tangy hops alongside aroma of spicies. The taste brings sweet sappy, overriped fruits on a malty backbone with piney hints. Firm bitter finish. Noticeable alcohol. Well bodied (very much enjoyed during the polar night in Tromsø, 27.12.2007). SpringsLicker (1812), Tennessee, USA Dec 1, 2007 Thanks to kxkeller for this one.
Pours with a thin fleeting head over a clear, dark brown body.
Complex malt aroma. Earthy.
The flavor follows the aroma with some hop dryness at the back.
