pivnizub (3638), Porúří, Germany Mar 29, 2008 Bügelverschlußflasche: "Milky" chestnut-amber coloured, no head to speak of; sweet, toasted-malty nose with an oaky tinge of vanilla; quite full sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied; sweet-oaky finish with a tinge of vanilla, again, and a light bitterness coming late. Not really superb, an artificially made "Barrique"ale is not the beer, the world really needs......
Theis (1922), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 14, 2008 Bottle at Jannik. Clear orange - no head. Wood, dry oaked, sweetness, rather high hoppy, bitterness, caramel, citrus, toasted, dark fruits. Very nice. MoritzF (3648), Ruhrpott, Germany Mar 26, 2008 (swing top bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Cloudy, chestnut-brown colour with a short off-white creamy layer. Sweet and heavily oaky malty nose with notes of vanilla and alcohol. Slightly sugary, sweet flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Toast malty and way too oaky taste with caramel, vanilla and shy fruity traces; finishes sweet and bitter with loads of oak flavours, vanilla and alcohol. Surely interesting, but I don´t need beers (nor wines) flavoured with oak chips (26.03.08). faroeviking (3955), Faroese Beer Republic union of, Denmark Mar 2, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy red-orange. Sweet caramel, toasty malt, yeast, alcohol and some dark fruits in the aroma and also in the flavour with more sweetness and dark fruits + alcohol. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Feb 25, 2008 Bottle @ Yespr tasting. [thank you, Myrup] [vintage 2006]
Pours a hazy/lightly muddy red-brown. A small film head. Aroma is oaky, sweet, caramel and quite vinious. Low carbonation. Flavour is okay rounded, lots of oak, toffee and viniousness. Fine, but rather unbalanced.
