In the bottle from Beertopia. Good Lord that’s good stuff! This thing pours like 10W40 and looks like it’s been sitting in the oil pan for at least 100K since the last change. Incredible dark brown head. The thick gelatinous head forms a dense sludge around the glass. I really wouldn’t call something this manly "lacing." The aroma is an enticing fuel-injected turbo chocho coffee machine. Thick. jeezus this is a thick beer. Sweet in a glass of pure melted chocolate type of way. The roastedness is hidden as is the alcohol. This is DFH WWS without the heat and anger. My bottle was listed as 8% ABV on the label, not the 7.5 indicated on this site. This should be even hogher ethanol considering the amount of fermentables in this. They either stop it, or use an attenuating strain. It’s just a hell of a beer. Perhaps my favorite "regular" porter? This is thicker and better than many imperial porters.

Aug 19, 2008 pours an opaque with a small brown head, nice lacing.
smell of bakers chocolate, vanilla, touch of licorice, hint of roastiness.
taste is creamy, milk and dark chocolate, roasted nuts, vanilla, nice bitter finish.

Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Poured an opaque dark brown with a big light tan head, some lacing. Rich milk chocolate aroma, sweet with roasted malt notes. Very dry roast char with a light sweetness. Coffee and dark chocolate bitterness. Full creamy mouth filling palate with a lingering dry roastiness. I enjoyed this but found it a little too heavy on the dry roast character to make it amazing. Still very good.

Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a midnight black, really nice, thick brown head. Aroma is touches of coffee, chocolate, caramel, some alcohol in the background. Flavor is a very powerful combination of malt, coffee, and chocolate, very IMP stout like.

Aug 13, 2008 Drank with Emerica56 on his Birthday. Pours a rich black opaque color with a dark chocolate brown foam head. Nose robust, roasted malts, cofee, cocoa, and touch of nuts. Initial taste is creamy, chocolate, roasted malts and dark fruits. Finishing with roasted malts and chocolate and minor hop balance. Palate duration is perfect. Full bodied brew. Mouthfeel is silky and smooth. Head retention is above average. Great porter!

Aug 11, 2008 Based on the heavy roast flavors, I would have thought this was an impy stout rather than a porter. Very flavorful with grainy coffee, chocolate, and a touch of ash. I expected a higher ABV on a beer with such big flavors. Fantastic beer that I could drink all day.
