Commercial Description:
A dark strong ale brewed specially for the great Danish beer bar "Plan B". Brewed with Simcoe hops and lots of lovely beet sugar. Available in keg and in bottle in very limited quantities. Of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Poured a murky dark amber color with a medium sized, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, caramel . Taste was sweet, beet sugar, nuts, tobacco, pine, light citrus, moderate bitterness and light alcohol in the finish. It left a lingering cloying sugary/molasses taste that coated my tongue. Thanks Steve for sharing this super rarity!

Many thanks to Rene for the bottle, 375mL corked and caged. Poured clear, deeper garnety-brown with a tall cap of well-retained tan head.. rising carbonation and sticky, intricate lacing.. beautiful! The aroma jumped out of the glass with vibrant notes of pine, grapefruit, and what must’ve been alcohol-infused beets.. toasty caramel and some molasses backed it up.. prickly beets tickle the nose hairs on the back. The flavor had a syrupy foray with caramel, molasses, and chocolate.. surrounded by heavy, scratchy, lingering bitterness comprised of pine tar, dark fruit, and a pinch of citrus.. the beet sugar was more apparent on the back-end.. finished with more beet and caramel sweetness and more-than-ample juicy citrus bitterness. Heavier-bodied and syrupy on the palate, but it had enough carbonation to cut through and provide balance.. the hops steal the show, but are unnecessarily abrasive at times.. all-in-all a tasty and challenging beer!

Bottle@SpontaneousWeekend08. Fruity, floral, grassy very American aroma. Hazy, brown color, yellowish head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, grassy, floral, fruity. Sticky with a dry finish. Thank you Martin for sharing this with us!

Thank you Jason for this bottle! Cork opened to a very loud pop and poured a medium brownish / amber color with a red tint and a large sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, dark fruits, floral hops, and pine. More on the ’Barleywine’ aromas. Tastes of molasses, floral, earthy, dark fruits, and caramel. Bottle was hand written with 200 IBUs...
