armando629 (571), Budapest, Hungary Nov 19, 2008 Golden beer with a minimal white head what diminishes quickly. Moderated aroma of caramel malt, some hop perfume. Sweet flavor with a moderated carbonation, some yeast. Avarage frinkable lager one, nothing exciting. ChristianScheffel (2331), Odense, Denmark Jul 6, 2008 Golden with a small white head. Caramel, toffe and a hint of hops in the aroma. Sweetish caramel malty flavour with some hop flavour and a decent bitter finish. Very fizzy giving a tendency towards the metallic Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Apr 7, 2008 Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
----------------------------------------------------------------
How: Bottle at at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague
The look: Clear blonde body with a small white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: As above but thinner and overall lack of intensity. Non-offensive and highly drinkable but below average bland Světlý.
Fukito (603), Buenos Aires, Argentina Dec 26, 2007 Keg @ Microbar, november 07. Clear, shinny golden/ orange color and a small white head. Bittersweet, gentle flavor with an interesting acidic tang at the end with some crystal malts notes. Nice. Medium mouthfeel, some citrusy/ flowery hops coating with the malt just keeping them at bay. Nice, flowers, caramel on the nose with some suplhurous notes that takes away from it. Nice, citric, fresh pils. Ungstrup (11930), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 4, 2007 Bottle, 4.8%. A golden beer with a thin white head. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet with notes of straw and malt.
