BartC (250), Lichtaart, Belgium Aug 27, 2008 I have a very old one (over three years old and if I remember correctly it is from the first brew.
Cloudy amber beer with an off-white head. Aroma has a lot of Bretts in it and is very similar to Orval (I had an Orval yesterday so I can make a good comparison). Flavor is malty, fruity and a nice sourness. Again very similar to Orval. The finish is malty where the Orval has some bitterness. An excellent beer certainly if you have the chance to taste an old one. BTW the infection with Brettanomyces Brusseliensis was intented and not an accident. bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy brown body with a small yellowish off-white head. Aroma of floral, leather, mustiness, and barnyard. Flavor of hops (floral, citrus, grass), herbs, fruity, and caramel malt. bee__R (31), Cantù, Italy Aug 14, 2008 Pleasant discovery, picked up without expectations but I enjoyed it untill the last sip. Very complex butvery easy to drink. Huge white lasting head, amber-orange color. Wonderful variegate aroma, very rich but balanced. Spicy, fruity (berries) and some yeast characters. Intense and quite persistent.
The flavor matches well with the nose and it’s what I expected after having scented. A bitter backgroud and a light-medium body which seems fair for this beer. blutt59 (685), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 31, 2008 bottle, muddy orange color, tons of foam, sour chalky floral nose, flavors of effervescent blueberry, oranges and clove, spice finish BoBoChamp (653), Gent, Belgium Jul 29, 2008 33cl, exclusive brewery, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, yet easy to drink, balanced, cloudy, rocky head, good brew
