Due to our participation in at least a half a dozen collaborations each year, one might perceive Stone as the craft beer equivalent of a bee flitting indiscriminately from one brewery to the next, all the while drawing precious nectar-the expertise and creativity of those institutioní brewmasters. Another buzzy operation that gets the same rap is Bluejacket, a new, Washington, D.C.-based operation headed by industry veteran and constant collaborator Megan OíLeary Parisi. But make no mistake, Stone and Bluejacket are intensely selective about the contemporaries we invite into our brewhouses. We look for the same high level of passion and daringness to flip a beer style on its head that we employ on a baily basis. So, when Parisi and Stone brewmaster Mitch Steele decided to collaborate, it was essential that they tap a special individual to complete their triad of fermentation domination, and they found just that in Tonya Cornett, the brewmaster at Bend, Oregonís 10 Barrel Brewing Company. Together, they decided on a sturdy yet velvety base of imperial porter and developed a plan to celebrate the bounty of the environs in which it was produced by harvesting avocado honey, jasmine and calendula flowers (some from our very own Stone Farms)and infusing them into the beer to create something complex and uniquely Southern Californian. Consider it craft cross-pollination at its finest.

Has a nice malt aroma. Pours a lovely black with a cream head. I can taste a subtle hint of honey that goes very well with the malt. Goes down smooth and leaves a clean finish.

Pours pitch black with a small, tight brown head. Smells of subtle floral notes, hints of honey, and a hint of earthiness. Taste is sweet, lightly floral, hints of herb. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, 10 Barrel/Bluejacket/ Stone Suede Imperial Porter finishes with a silky lingering sweetness.

I didnít get a whole lot as far as the aroma goes, but flavor wise I really enjoyed this. Just the right thickness in the body, itís not too sweet (maybe thatís from the flowers?). In any case, itís pretty good.

Another surperb example of what passion produces. This is such a smooth porter with a floral subtext and balanced mouthfeel. Dark smokey color and thick creamy browninsh-white head of sufficient strength to catch an upper lip. Anymore, itís pointless to try to out-review Stone with the detailed deScription of the beer. It is exactly as theyíve described in this case.

Bomber from Caponeís. Pours mahogany toward dark blackish at the edges with 1-finger tan head. Nose is roasty dark malt, cacao, hot pepper, black and blue berries. HEAVY blueberries, At any rate, the taste is roasty malty, with florals, blueberry, cacao, backup hops, and a complex finish. This one is delicious.

A very good porter. High ABV as an Imperial, but very smooth and not boozy. Great complex flavors. Very much as described in beer deScription. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I think this was on tap - Pours near black with a tan head. The aroma is of roast malt, cocoa, and even flowery. The flavor is sweet chocolate malt with herbal character. It may be the jasmine that Iím getting there. Thereís also a subtle fruitiness. It has a creamy full body and finishes with a roasted, pleasant bitterness. Really, really good. Fantastic brew.

Bottle. A- Honey, avocado, vanilla, flowers, mocha, caramel. A- Super dark brown color, dark liquid, light brown head. T- Cocoa, chocolate, coffee, honey, vanilla, subtle spice, caramel. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- At first aroma I thought I smelled something along the lines of avocado in here and thought I was crazy so I read the deScription on here and sure enough, the honey is from avocados. A nice blend of ingredients that just worked a lot better than expected. The way things are going Imperial Porters may be my new favorite thing. This bottle was also from late 2013 so Iím not sure how that may have affected this one either.
