A Northwest American-Style IPA. The color comes through as a deep gold with orange hues. Fruity and citrusy hop aroma shines, with hints of pine resin. The four hop flavor dominates, re-enforcing the aroma with more citrus, fruity and piney notes. The malt character is clean and smooth with a unique toasted flavor (thanks to the generous helping of Victory malt), all held together by a firm bitterness. Apocalypse has a medium-bodied mouth feel, finishing crisp and dry. All of this results in a very drinkable IPA.

Hops: Horizon, Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade
Malt: 2-row Pale, Victory, Crystal

22 oz. bottle shared by brew3crew (I think). Pours a dark golden amber color with a small white head. The aroma had citrus, light pine, bready malts, bubble gum, light floral and some alcohol. The flavor was more dry herbal, bready malts, hints of citrus, lingering bitterness. Not much in the way of flavoring hops.

I think the problem here is that Iíve had so many truly wonderful IPAs over the past few days. Pours blonde without ok head and lacing. Booze is pretty heavy in aroma and the beer doesnít come together super well. Average carbonation. On tap at Black Back pub.

By far, my favorite 10 Barrel brew. Pacific Northwest beers often seem to focus primarily on hops. As an IPA freak, I love hops (whether for bittering, flavor, or aroma) but I believe itís paramount to compliment those hops with a solid grain/malt bill. I think 10 Barrel did a great job at making a beer with an aggressive amount of hops. This beer is bitter and I love it and later hop additions did give it a nice citrus/pine aroma. But just as important, the malt flavor comes through giving the beer a subtle roasty flavor. Overall, the combo makes this IPA extremely drinkable and borderline addictive.
