COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Northwest American-Style IPA. The color comes through as a deep gold with orange hues. Fruity and citrusy hop aroma shines, with hints of pine resin. The four hop flavor dominates, re-enforcing the aroma with more citrus, fruity and piney notes. The malt character is clean and smooth with a unique toasted flavor (thanks to the generous helping of Victory malt), all held together by a firm bitterness. Apocalypse has a medium-bodied mouth feel, finishing crisp and dry. All of this results in a very drinkable IPA.

Hops: Horizon, Centennial, Amarillo, Cascade
Malt: 2-row Pale, Victory, Crystal

I love this IPA. Piney without being resiny but with a nice citrus overtone. Hops linger pleasantly. You could drink a few of these as it's balanced well between complexity and drinkability. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Much like the description says there is citrus, pine and fruit flavors, no tropical, not sour and juicy like an orange. Must be low sugar. Raw bitterness in the finish. A stiff malty backbone holds the beer up. The beer is clean and crisp and dry and cuts straight to the flavor with little masking.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of citric and piney hops, a bit stale. Flavor has some sweetish malt, a touch of marmalade, and bitter piney and citric hops, slightly stale. Medium-bodied. Decent, but probably better fresher.

Pours an orange/copper color with a decent soapy head that sticks to the side of the glass. The retention is quite long. First bit of aroma, I got a fresh cut grass smell, but as it warms the sweet fruit smell comes through. I am getting more of a stone fruit taste than citrus...like a peach or mango? Bitter pine finish. Solid malt backing. At first I thought this was average, but now half-way through, I am appreciating this a lot more.

Poured from bomber into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours an orange amber color with a two finger head of white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of a grapefruit citrus and some sweeter fruit of a tropical nature (papaya, tangerine and mango) with some harvest fruit of apple and peach as well. Along with the nice fruity smells, comes a bit of a pine and grassy smell as well as some hay. Overall the aroma is quite nice. Taste – The taste begins with a great grapefruit hop taste that is mixed with the sweetness of tropical fruits and harvest fruits that were present in the nose. There is a little bit of a doughiness upfront which fades as the taste advances and is replaced by some toasted bready tastes mixed with a little bit more fruitiness. While the fruitiness increases a bit in intensity, hop flavors of resinous pine and a bit of grass come to the tongue, leaving one with a rather flavorful and smooth hopped up taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the medium side in terms of thickness and chewiness with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the mix of fruity, dank and lightly toasted flavors the feel is fantastic and makes for one easy drinking but robust drinker. Overall – I rather enjoyed this brew. It has a ton of different flavors that all melded together well. Along with the great nose and feel, the combination of attributes made for a very nice drinking brew.

Fresh bottle carried across the country by a good friend. This is a great benchmark of a West Coast IPA. It’s clean and neutral, super clear and firmly bitter. It didn’t shake any of my dearly held beliefs, but who wants a beer to do that anyway?

In the glass it has a light amber color with a nice head. Aroma of citrus and some pine. The taste has more citrus with some mango and malts. Good balance with a long finish.
