COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Just like a gambler doubling down in Vegas so is this beer on the hops. The heavy handed additions of Magnum, Simcoe, and Chinook drives the hop charge over the top. Malt, being the counterpart in this beer, is built upon Pale, Crystal, Carapils, and Munich. All this combined creates a royal flush of a brew. If you donít LOVE hops, then donít even bother!

Big thanks to boyalyl for this one. Served in a cervoise. Pours a slightly-murky peach color with a nice head. The nose is overloeaded with tropical fruit -- lots of mango along with peach and a hint of pineapple. A bit of citrus as well. Flavor is similarly fruity with strong bitterness and just a touch of malt. Other than a bit of excess alcohol, this was quite easy to drink.

Draft - grapefruit and pith. Cloudy gold with a decent white head. Cloying pithy and malt sweetness. Rich, but a little cloying.

Pours a slightly hazed golden... nice white head with great lacing. Jesus... That is hoppy!! Tons of mango... melon... tangerine... pineapple? A freaking tropical fruit bowl... Seriously, it smells like it will cake your nose hairs with lupulin glands... a very tiny bit of residual pale maltiness makes all the different fruity hoppy notes mesh. WOW.... Caking hop flavors, but surprisingly not as bitter as I would have guessed... Again... a massive tropical fruity presence... just enough malt to deliver the hop whollup.. oily and clinging.. body is spot on, but the carbonation seems at touch light... amazing how FRESH this tastes.

Poured from tap to glass. Golden hue with creamy white head that lingered. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, orange, mango, papaya, caramel. Mouthfeel is great with a full body and zesty carbonation. Taste is sweet with a nice hop bitterness and slight ethanol finish. Overall this is a nice brew.

Mrrr... Sweet like liquor body, big, overwhelms the hops which are bitter but no specific hope profile, somewhat resinous.

Right from the get go, I like this. Hits all the right notes, from aroma to taste. Copper color, citrus/pine aroma, sharp hop bitterness. Lovely.

Orange golden color with an off white head. Wonderful floral/citrus aroma. Nice smooth flavor with no tinge of bitterness. You would never guess 100 ibuís. This beer also hides the alcohol well. Great DIPA!!!

On tap at the Boise BP In a snifter, slight hazy orange/light amber with a small sandy head. Easy muted deep hoppy aroma, as if the fresh sharp brightness had faded a bit. Decent bitterness but not a bomb, Full hoppy flavors and moderate malt back end. Pretty big bite at the end. Ive had plent of DIPAs that were bigger hop monsters but this is balanced and easy...even at over 9%

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Big grapefruit and pine flavor. Medium bodied. Very good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine linger.

22oz bomber that I forgot about and was buried in the back of the fridge...doh! Pours a clean slight copper tinted gold with minimal head that looks to be on the dense and sticky side. Still intense and fresh hop nose, a blend of sweet and slight spicy pine, citrus and a bit of tropical fruitiness that gets lost a bit in the crystal malt as it warms, it starts to have some faint garlic/green onion. Heavier mouth feel, somewhat sticky. Sweeter, pretty intensely bitter pine, green onion, garlic, tropical pine in the middle, some pithy citrus but then makes way to some serious bittering with slight ice tea. I did drink this fresh too and it hasnít fallen off by much. Not bad, just not really the profile I enjoy in a IIPA.

Two bottles sent from a friend in Oregon. Given the shelf life, I didnít expect these to be the best samples of what Shawn Kelso can do now that heís at 10 Barrel. But still, having known him way back in high school, he always finds a way to get his signature hop face-slap into all of his IPAs. Pours cloudy orange, almost looks like an orange-amber hefeweizen, until the aroma reaches out and grabs your nostrils. Soapy white head. Simcoe aroma, pine tree, cantaloupe melon, mango, papaya, pineapple juice. Definitely hoppy and long-standing bitter. If I close my eyes, itís somewhat similar to Hopsickle. Would love to had tried this fresh on tap instead of the last two bottles on the shelf in a store in Oregon. Still, it has Shawnís signature all over it.
