OG Wheat gives props to the "Original Gangsters" of the beer scene here in the Northwest. How? We simply jumped in our time machine, hijacked the OG’s and wrote the master recipe. Time for old school to meet the new school.

Bottle from Trader Joe’s. Hazy yellow/orange in color. Nose is strong and very fruity. Tropical fruit dominated by pineapple. Good hoppiness with a bit of sweet. More tropical fruit as well. Pretty tasty and interesting brew.

Bottle shared with sibs in CT. Pours mostly clear gold with a foamy, creamy white head. The nose holds dry, pale bread, some citrus fruits, hay. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly tangy citrus fruits, nips of papaya, lemon, light grass, wood and white grape. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Some citric tang on the finish with some peach, melon, lemon, more pale wheat, some grass and straw. Nice.

Bottle: Golden honey color with a light haze, topped with a finger of creamy white head. Smells a little like a hefe with hops… floral, citrus, and wheat. Taste is more of the IPA variety, with heavy citrus and floral hops backed with a little wheat. There are some light herbal and dusty notes in the tail as well. Different… I like this.

From Brewcraft. Dull gold-grey with watery carbonated white head and frothy legs. Smells very sweet - dried fruit, apricot, melted candy, sweet liqueur. Bready malt, faint underlying grassy hop. Tastes of lemony hop, some spicy malt but overall a bit watery. Body is light and frothy like a wheat beer. Not bad, though a little too thin in taste and sweet in aroma.

Hazy deep blond color with compact head. Fruity hop aroma, a bit animal character. Smooth mouthfeel, good body strength; it has the right spicy character, followed by the right zesty hop.
Fresh, very good version of White IPA.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2014 (Bottle) A lot of grapefruit flavor in this one. Pretty refreshing but also definitely not a weak beer. Has a lingering bitterness but not too bad. Not outstanding but a beer I wouldn’t turn down. Drinkable.

"the combination of hops and wheat work well - especially in the nose. this vibrant ale really shines. the flavor is nice too - refreshing with a light-medium color and body. I’d get again."

Cloudy orange golden. Citrus hop aroma, malt heavy smell. Light spicy wheat, some sticky citrus hops but not really matching what I had hoed for. Doughy malt seems to overtake.

Bottle. A: Cloudy yellow with an enormous off-white head. Decent lacing. N: Wheat, grapefruit, spruce, cracker, hint of peppercorn. Earth and lemon rind. T: Bitter and tart. Good sweetness in the background. M: Resinous and almost crunchy. Medium body. This is much larger than expected. O: I sometimes fear getting this beer, and I don’t know why. It’s a reflection of Sean Kelso’s time at Barley Brown’s with the similarities to their beer, of course.
