COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This delicately balanced Strong Ale starts with dark copper color mixed with slight reddish hues and a light tan head. Big malty aroma with a Munich character give way to a slight caramel & toffee mixed with spicy noble hop aroma, all wrapped together with a medium-bodied mouth feel. German malt flavor profile with slight roasty notes give Pray for Snow a subtle toffee sweetness balanced with spicy hop bitterness and slight alcohol warming. Served appropriately in a classic snifter.

I smell cherry prunes, fresh split wood, distant caramel. minimal off white head on reddish amber clarity. smooth & aromatic in the mouth. ctirus hops speak up among the fruit in the flavor department, dry among the sweet.

Appearance is a dark brown copper color supporting a thin dissipating head leaving patchy lace. Smell of dark specialty malts, dark fruits with a light sweetness. Taste has a rich flavor of the dark fruits, strong malt backbone with a touch of hops to offset the sweetness. Mouthfeel is full and slick. A very nice strong ale thats an easy sipper on the coldest days.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 12.23.13. A: Slight head. Cloudy dark amber. S: Sweet malt, fruity. Maybe has raspberry. T: Black pepper, toast, bitter hops. Some fruit. O: The black pepper hits very hard along with a strong bitterness. A terrible burnt aftertaste then takes over. This one is not balanced at all. I thought that it might have been a bad bottle, but at 7% ABV, it should have held up. This went down the drain.

Bottle from Walmart. Deep amber/brownish in color. Rich, slightly sweet malty nose. Quite rich and malty up front. Finish is strong on the grapefruit peel. Strong roasty ale with a bitter finish.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: malty and nutty, with hints of leather, caramel, and toast. Taste/Palate: starts sweet and crisp, and finishes creamy with a long bitterness.

Large shared bottle pours near black with a decent head. The aroma is like a typical barleywine: fruity and lightly boozy. The bitter flavor reflects a higher hop load than expected. The feel is slightly harsh. O: disappointing, especially considering the fine aroma.

Bottle from Brewfest. Brown with off white head and lace. Toasted caramel aroma with some woody spicy hops. Toasted caramel nuts and fruit sweetness with woody bitterness and lingering sticky sweetness. Medium full body. I still think seasonals should be special. Meh.

Starts off nice, but not very well balanced. Pours an absolutely beautiful ruby red with a thick tan head. Smells of fruit, vanilla, caramel, hops and pine. Taste starts with a bit of fruit and pine, but then is suddenly overwhelmed with a heavy bitterness that sticks around long after the sip. Would prefer a more balanced finish. Had in the bottle.

Bottle. Strong dark ale. A little bitter but mostly malty. A good strong ale for the winter.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy reddish dark amber color with a moderate tan head on there. I get a mix of bread and grass, with some boozy caramel notes in there. Taste is actually just a bit sweet up front, though with a crisp, slightly bitter finish.
