3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
In short: A supposedly Black IPA that tastes like a roasted stout with coffee flavor and citrusy hops. Decent stout.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed a few months before expiration date.
The look: Very dark mahogany body topped by a medium beige head that quickly dissipates to the persistent layer of foam.
In long: Nose is not very Black IPA, the aroma is pretty much what I expect from a very roasted stouts (burnt toasts and coffee beans) with only timid citrusy hops angles showing up. Taste follows suit, a body on the light side of things, grainy malts, burnt toasts, coffee beans, juicy, some raisins, juicy citrusy hops. This is more a well balanced roasted stout than a Black IPA per say. Kind of hard to rate a beer like this one, a failure at the style it is aiming for that turns out to be a decent session stout. Was pretty hard to rate with my autocorrect constantly changing “S1NISTOR” to “SINISTOR” and “10 Barrel” to “10 Barrels”, I hate my autocorrect, duck you autocorrect.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at 10 Barrel. Shocked that anyone was able to actually rate this beer given the name and ratebeer’s archaic search engine. Clear, deep ruby pour. Weak foam. Nose is heavy twizzlers, sticky dark fruits. Off for style. Taste is weak, Diet coke, sweet tea. Suddy, weak palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I prefer ales and bitters and IPAs, so take this review with a grain of salt. Not a bad dark brew. Black in appearance but not a heavy beer. Best in a cold frozen mug. Smokey flavor. Mild aftertaste.

22oz Bomber pours black with mahogany highlights. Thin quick light tan head and spotty lacing. Light sweet roast aroma with a little sour. Porter like. Light roasted flavor, with a little smoke and dark wheat notes. Thin bodied and attenuated. A session-able light bodied dark ale.

2.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy finely sized yellow brown colored bubbles that were quickly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation semi-opaque ruby red brown colored body and a poor lacing. The aroma was musty and dark malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a mellow hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of black malt wood and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black with a mild, sweet roasty, nutty aroma. Taste is the same, with delucate vanilla and almond notes, but this is not a black ipa. 5/22oz

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not too far removed from a dunkel/tmavy, pours almost black (very dark brown), thin beige head, roast/smoky aroma, some oak barrel/wood notes. Taste is also mostly roast grains, for an IPA, hops are in the background, almost an afterthought. Good dark beer, but tough to classify.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap, pours a night dark black with a tan head. Nose is hops and malt and a bit of roast. Nice mix of roast/stout notes and IPA hops. Finish is crisp and clean.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought for $8.99 at Hunger Mountain. To undersized snifter, it pours a deep purplish charcoal brown with a beige-ringed head half a finger in length. Tastes and smells of black olive juice, prunes, grill char, wet ash, ginger, herbs, grass, and roasted peanuts. Sawdust, cedar, London yeast, and bitter hops by swallow. Has a nice creaminess. Better than expected.

A fantastic entry to the black beer market: a nearly perfect blend of chocolate, roasted, and coffee notes with an easy finishing body. Hops balance doesn't steal the show from the roast malt nuances that make this one a standout.
