We craft our S1NIST0R BLACK ALE using a special German dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the dark color may look intimidating to some, but don’t let this beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a very light body and smooth finish.

Serving: from tap at Bennett’s Fish Shack. Aroma: moderately sweet coffee and chocolate. Appearance: no head with no lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Clear, dark-red/brown body. Taste: moderately sweet and smokey initial taste and finish with average duration. Palate: medium bodied with creamy texture and lively carbonation. Overall: very good. The smokey flavor balances with the sweetness.

Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is milk chocolate, lightly roasted grain, dates, hint of rubber on the finish. Light bodied, malty and flavourful on the palate. Flavours are dates, chocolate, malt.

At 10 Barrel brewpub in Bend with Taylor. Pours lack with almost no head. Aroma is light thin nutty roasted malt. Taste is nutty roast, very nice, drinkable. I like it as a session beer.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted grain, husks, cocoa), with notes of car tires, paint. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A disturbingly dirty, phenolic sample...smells pretty strongly of chemicals/petrolates. Hope for the brewery’s sake this isn’t how it always is.

Not very well acclimated to this style. I enjoy the black malts here greatly. But there’s some kind of sweetness that is slightly offputting. Nevertheless, quite good.

Appearance is a very dark brown color supporting a healthy dissipating head leaving nil lace. Smell of the roasted malt with slight dark chocolate and coffee. Taste of the roasted malt giving it a slight bitter astringency with a light sour note. Moutfeel is medium light with good carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear dark brown pour with an off white head. Mild roasted malts with hints of chocolate. Good body and mouthfeel.

Another great tasting 10 Barrel beer with a mouthfeel that wasn’t quite hitting home runs with me. This reminded me more of a Black Lager style than an ale and was quite slim in the body for that as well. It has a nice dark cocoa brown appearance, a small tan head with the smell of roast malts and coffee. Taste is similar with chocolate, wood and some mild basement dank. Just a touch too watery to really sink my tongue into.

12 oz bottle pours a dark thin black. Mild Toasty aroma. Mild cocoa and coffee tastes. Kinda watered down but smooth finish. OK
