We craft our S1NIST0R BLACK ALE using a special German dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the dark color may look intimidating to some, but don’t let this beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a very light body and smooth finish.

My Bottom Line:
Roasted malts and fruity edges delve into light acidity and bitterness for a drinkable but forgettable concoction.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A steady sheet of foam covers the blackened mahogany.
-This is not a Schwarzbier at all...
-Hop bitterness balances out the roasted malts in the finish.

Black body with lasting tan sheen. Black licorice, black malt, dark fruit aromas. Medium bodied with average co2. Black dry malt, black licorice, fruity flavors with a burnt malt bitterness to finish___decent.

Bottle. Pours a near black color with a moderate light tan head on it. Nose is a little roasty and toasty, and has some slight bitter elements coming off it. Taste is roasty and a little bitter with a slightly sour finish and a bit of earthiness on there. Meh.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in Rathdrum, ID. Aroma consists of dough, toast, dark fruit, roasty coffee, wet river rock. Pours black but has red highlights in the light; has a medium beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet, finishing dry. Roasty flavors backed by faint hoppy citrus. Creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. More like a faintly hoppy schwarzbier than a black IPA.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2014 Thin palate. Little toasty flavor and actually mild hop presence. Unpleasant flavor of adjunct ingredients. By far my least favorite black up a so far...Orig rating 11/24/13...2.6. Well its funny how a 2nd try can change your perception. I dnt remember having this beer the 1st time, but this time I dnt agree w/ my initial impression. This brew is toasty and dark, light to med bodied with nice body throughout. Nice coffee flavor and bittersweet baking chocolate. No alcohol flavors present.

Smells like raosty black malt. Head lasts forever. The aroma is dark and roasted. The flavor is a little sweet for a cool black malty beverage.

Dark beer with a foamy tan head. Sweet and alcoholic nose with some chocolate notes. Flavors of dusty chocolate, ripe fruit and roasted grains. There is an odd chalky sense to this.

In short: A supposedly Black IPA that tastes like a roasted stout with coffee flavor and citrusy hops. Decent stout.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed a few months before expiration date.
The look: Very dark mahogany body topped by a medium beige head that quickly dissipates to the persistent layer of foam.
In long: Nose is not very Black IPA, the aroma is pretty much what I expect from a very roasted stouts (burnt toasts and coffee beans) with only timid citrusy hops angles showing up. Taste follows suit, a body on the light side of things, grainy malts, burnt toasts, coffee beans, juicy, some raisins, juicy citrusy hops. This is more a well balanced roasted stout than a Black IPA per say. Kind of hard to rate a beer like this one, a failure at the style it is aiming for that turns out to be a decent session stout. Was pretty hard to rate with my autocorrect constantly changing “S1NISTOR” to “SINISTOR” and “10 Barrel” to “10 Barrels”, I hate my autocorrect, duck you autocorrect.
