3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared from a bomber into snifters at the Royale gathering last night, thanks Blake! It poured a nearly opaque dark brown color with tan head and some lace. A good, true-to-style schwartzbier. Roasted barley and burnt toast. Nice light drinkable strength, crisp finish. I’d compare it to Smithwicks, Guinness Black Lager or Black Toad.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Pours a dark brown-amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, nuts, brown sugar, tobacco, and chocolate. The flavor follows the same line, with toasted malts, nuts, chocolate, tobacco, brown sugar, and earth. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a toasty mouthfeel. Dry finish. Had back-to-back with the 10 Barrel Oregon Brown Ale, and I’d give the slight edge to that one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black! Tan dense head. Like a smooth oatmeal stout that gradually tries to become an IPA. Not at all bad.
