We craft our S1NIST0R BLACK ALE using a special German dehusked black malt that is free of astringency, giving the beer a rich black color without the traditional dark beer characteristics. You will notice subtle hints of chocolate with an easy drinking balance on the back end. In the glass the dark color may look intimidating to some, but don’t let this beer fool you. Our unique combination of malts creates a very light body and smooth finish.

Bottle:   Deep brown, nearly black, moderate sudsy off white head, spotty lacing.   Roasted malt nose, pale apple skin, a little lactose.   Similar on the tongue, a bit spritzy.   Straight forward, but average in my book.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Fairly solid, but very average.

Pours brown/black with a nice head and a good amount of lacing. Sort of a chocolate ice cream aroma. Smooth and also very dry. No big coffee or chocolate taste. Just a solid roasted ale.

Bottle courtesy bu11zeye. Pours a clear dark red/orange color. Ring of tan head. Aroma is dark roasted notes, maple syrup, spice, and a slight amount of smoke. Flavor is smoked and peated, dark bitter roast with malts. Finishes fairly light.

Growler pour via lagunitas fan. Clear mohogany with a smidgen of cherry wood in the color, soapy tan head. Smells like roasted malt...like in a dry stout with a touch of acid around the edges. Flavors again are dry and roasty...yeah, that’s pretty much all I got. Flavorful yeah, clean enough...not offensive..ok.

My buddy Ryan brought to me a growler of this as a thank you for taking him to the airport. We sat in the driveway and pounded the growler upon his return. Pour is black with strong tan head. Nose is chocolate and roast malt. Dry like cocoa. Taste is big smooth sweet. Still some chocolate, but much lighter than the nose. Light rum and raisin to go with the malts. Big round mouth with full sweet finish. Not rich sweet, light sweet with roast malt/hoppy sharp finish. Rather clean for such a dark offering. Nice brew!
