3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (6710) - Antwerpen, - SEP 2, 2006
Huge, fluffy head, yellowish over fully hazy orange-ochre beer. Pungent spicey nose - lavender? Like a desinfectant, but with a natural herb. Lavender again, going over in an outspoken bitter almond flavour. The spices & almond completely overwhelm anything else. Some sweetness; retronasal citrus, soapy. Good point: somehow it’s refreshing. Medium bodied. There’s just too much of this lavender thingy. Pity, because a bit more balance might have yielded a much better beer.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2007 Bottle. Quite a spicey beer. menthol (quite mentholy actually- like toothpaste) and pepper. Yeasty, citric, with warming alcohol. It fits into the style of a tripel i think, but its not a tripel i’m too fond of.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s extravaganza. Spice, wheat, lots and lots of chunky plankton-like floaters, thick with little bits. Sweet, hoppy and spicy. Crisp finish.

ChrisFest. Light and fruity with a pleasant effervescent carbonation. Perfumed. Weak grapefruit. Refreshing. Exciting. Wonderful.

Bottled at Chris_O Fest March 2007. A hazy yellowy gold coloured beer with a whitish head which gushed big time on opening. The aroma is peppery and spicy with sweet malts also. The taste is peppery and very lemony. Over carbonated in the extreme. Yeasty, and not over enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 diabel (1537) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - JAN 2, 2007
Bottle at Dickies, Bruges, Belgium Blond, hazy body. Creamy, white head. Excellent lace. Aroma of anice and tonic. Dito flavour (bitter). Therefor the flavour is quite weird. Off course very innovating and well done. It sure is a convincing beer. Just like it’s a style that I’ve never had before and I discover right now.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jerre (2165) - Waregem, BELGIUM - NOV 25, 2006
Bottle, 33 cl. Blond- almost amber color.
White head. Very special beer.
Aroma is not bad, koriander, and other spicy. Medium body. Taste is a little too much spicy, the boss thold me it’s "komijn". Like the other Alvinne beers more.
2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Phil (142) - Kent, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2006
Rocky head, foamy, filling the Alvinne Glass. Sitting here witha a daft dash sniffing my leg, I realised that this is the dog on the bottle. Perhaps there is a dog in the bottle, considering the aroma. Spicy, rather than hoppy. The flavour continues the spicy theme, not asian, just odd, curious rather than appealing. Found myself drinking this to finish it.... Not great.
