Comments: The low scores are a total mystery to me. This was easily amongst my favourites of 100+ beers tried in Austria. From what I think I understood, they brewed it using no basic pale malt and went for only specialty ones, though obviously munich and Vienna would be a fair proportion of the grain bill. That explains the “pure” from the name. I found it malt profile to be fabulous, very complex, fruity lager with a profound, spot on toastiness and beautifully nuances all throughout. And for all its maltiness and shy hops, it never becomes to sweet. Subtlety as an art.
Jukkabro (2394), Tampere, Finland Aug 24, 2007 Dark coppery colored, medium sized yellow head. Yeasty-flowery, only mildly roasted aroma with hints of chocolate. Medium bodied. Flavor is richer with roastiness and obvious chocolate, aftertaste dries nicely with hops, also some chocolate stays there. TBone (5115), Pori, Finland Jul 27, 2007 Draught@brewpub, Vienna
Copper brown color, creamy brown head. Nose is mainly diacetylic. Less butterscotch in the flavor (still some). Medium-bodied. Malty. Caramelly malts, light toasted notes, toffee. Light hops in the aftertaste. Unfortunately not clean batch.
