COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg, special
Medley of beech wood smoked barley malt and caramelized bohemian floor malt. Aroma being spiked by a dear dose of Amarillo hops, Tettnang leafes and three hands of Saphir pellets. The concoction of malt and hop infusion fighting for who is dominating your taste buds. Who is winning? The smoky caramel note creating the depth and tonality. Or The Top notes from Washington state Amarillo hops- fruity, organge like citrussy. The Tettnang spiceness - born by the micro climate of Lake Konstanz or the flowery note from Saphire? You decide. This fine ale was first brewed in 2007 in my drafty garage in Surrey, England., BTW - Amarillo originated as a wild hop and is now cultivated on the Ganache farms.

Ask the 1516 brewers for a hop sample- rubb it the palm of your hands and you get a sense of the pungent citrussy aroma quality.

At the Brewpub. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and dry. Mellow smoke. Whisper of lactose, a little citrus before a mellow dry finish. Not bad!

draught at the brewpub. Hazy chestnut-amber colour, creamy head. Slightly smoky nose. Medium-bodied, malty base with a touch of fruity yeast, hints of wood, hints of smoke. Very nice hop flavours, highly aromatic go well with the smoky touch.

Draft. Medium beige head atop black body, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit, some pineapple, light wood smoke. Taste is medium sweet, orange/grapefruit, some pineapple, light wood smoke that becomes more pronounced in the swallow. Soft light-medium body, light acidity. I see this as a lightly smoked APA.

KeefOz (879) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - MAR 26, 2013
Draught at brewpub, Vienna, Austria. Poured an opaque black with a one-finger beige head that collapsed quickly. Laced poorly. No carbonation. Aroma of sweet and smokey malt. Tastes like drinking smoke. Smokey caramel followed by a hops bitterness. The smokey caramels are stronger than the hops but overall there is a reasonable balance. Short smokey and hoppy finish. Different; good.

100ml sample at the brewpub
Pours a hazy dark brown with enticing smoked meat and chocolate coupled with tangerine on the nose. First flavour is herbal hops followed by a big punchy citrus spike and the smooth mouthfeel with smoky chocolate, followed by a bitter finish. Its very moreish, recommended.

Geiserich (3339) - Linz, AUSTRIA - FEB 13, 2013
Draught: Aroma has an intensive hop/amarillo note, some fruitiness and riadti ess. Dark brown, nearly black color, creamy brown head. Flavor is malty, full of roasted malt, medium smoked. Light notes of fruits, dark berries. Remarkable hops in the end, some IPA character.
