(Old BA rate - tap as Irish Red as well) Brighter orangey/red color and poured with a finger of white foamy head. Maltiness shows up first, then a touch of hop bitterness. Nothing overpowering in either department. Light malty sweetness; the hop bitterness definitely shows up in the taste. Very flavorful for what is traditionally a more complex style. Light to almost medium MF, bordering on a little creamy. Not bad drinking at all, balanced brew that could make for a fine session. A little bit heavier for the style, but still nice

UPDATED: APR 22, 2009 On draught at the brewpub (as Irish Red). The beer is a dark reddish amber color with a medium thick and foamy beige head that dissipates steadily. Patches of lacing on the glass. Mild malt and fruit in the nose. Medium body with a pale malt and fruit flavor coupled with faintly bitter hops. The finish is sweet caramel malt with a fruity aftertaste. Simple and average overall.

Draught at the brewpub as 1516 Irish Red.
Ruby/red coloured, medium sized off-white head, too much smoke in the brewpub to feel the nose (light floral fruity I suppose). Weak roasted malt, very fruity and mild toffee taste with flowery notes in the finish. Quite sweet and unbalanced beer.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2005 Draught
Fruity sweet aroma. Very dense creamy withe head, beautiful rubin red color. Very strange fruity flavor like cherries, sweetness and a light dry astringent finish. A bit unbalanced, unspectacular beer.

1. Rating Jun 23, 2004 (7/4/6/3/12 Creamy head, nice red/bronze color. Aroma is fruity and sourly. Flavor has much fruity sourness, some roasted malt notes and a decent dry bitterness. Nice, but to much sourness for me.
