sleepylopes (264), New York, USA Apr 2, 2008 as good as the origional if not better, the smaller batches may factor in. pour a nice glowing unfilterd marmolade amber color. nose is fresh whole hops with citrus, and slight pine. sharp clean finish after a nice clasic ipa. the best american beer made in vienna, if that makes sense.
Theis (1922), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 16, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. Clear nutbrown - offwhite head. High hoppy, abricot, grape, fruity, malty, caramel, chocolate, grassy, citrus, licorice, pine, hoppy finish. Lovely. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Jul 13, 2008 Tap @ 1516 Brewing Company, Vienna.
Pours nice hazy, deep amber with a big, staying, frothy/creamy off-white head. Suplime aroma, lots of hops, pine, grapefruit, citrus and flowers. Good caramel maltiness behind it. Nice creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has soft caramel, wonderful dryness in the finish. Truly well-balanced beer.
Guf, guf! Illini08 (504), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jun 13, 2008 500 mL pour on tap at the brewpub on 6/4. Deep copper red/red color with a 2-finger white head. Nice citrus hop aroma. It was somewhat difficult for me to really hone in on the aroma since they were in the process of brewing a batch of beer no more than 15 feet away from my table, but the Cascade hops really came through in the nose. Lots of citrus and somewhat piney hops. Plenty of malt to back up the hop schedule made this a really top notch IPA. Went great with a cheeseburger! I can understand why this is the top rated beer in Austria. changeup45 (527), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 9, 2008 Updated: May 29, 2008Pours a copper brown color, medium bodied with a nice amount head and lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and fruity with a nice hoppiness. Sweet, somewhat spicy flavors with a nice bitter hoppy bite. Finishes a bit bitter and dry. It’s by no means the strongest IPA I’ve had but it’s quite solid. If you’ve looking to be overpowered by hops you might want to look elsewhere (by no means is this one lacking) but if you want a great overall IPA then I would definitely recommend it. I purchased a single 12 oz bottle from this store for a buck and a quarter. Great deal!
