Sampled at the NoVa Summer Beer Fest in Leesburg, VA on 6/25/11. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a thin creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, toffee and raisin. The taste is toffee, raisin, bitter hops and a slightly metallic note. Medium bodied.

651mL can thanks to ryan. The pour is a clear, tea amber to near red with a thinning, yellow head. Aroma is sweet cherry, crystal malt, boxed wine, grenadine, heavy cherry syrup. Taste is toast, bread, sweet strawberry candies, sugar, light roastiness. Palate is sugary, thin. A perfect example of crystal malt explosion. Inoffensive. Very nice for $3 a bomber.

22 oz. Aluminum bottle from State Line. Pours deep ruby with 2-finger off-white head; looks nice. Nose is corn flakey, brown sugary, earthy, with notes of red vinous fruit. Tastes of big corn flakey malt, some nuts, toffee, and vinous fruit. Low carbonation and not very complex. BVut a good start.

Aluminum can. Poured hazy medium amber with a short, uniform cap of tan head. The aroma picked up toasted caramel and nutty notes with an odd sour fruit skin component laced throughout.. touches of iced tea and brown sugar too..seemed off. The flavor found similar components, up to and including the odd vinegary fruit sourness.. more nutty on the finish.. came across a little better than the nose. Lighter-bodied and a touch chalky on the palate.. the sourness was again odd.. not sure if this came across as intended.

22oz can shared by ryan: Pours a clear deep copper amber with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a lightly sweet toasted caramel malty nose with some light floral fruity notes. Starts with a fizzy carbonation and sweet caramel maltiness with some earthy bittering hops before a slightly more astringent, drier finish. Could use a cleaner hop profile and a little more residual sweetness.

22 oz aluminum bottle. Pours a nice clear dark amber body with a small fizzy off-white head that left a tiny bit of lacing. The nose is rather light, a touch of toasted malt and maybe a light hint of hops. A little caramel sweetness as it warmed. The flavor is a little rough and husky, certainly on the sweeter side, with a minimal touch of bitterness. Medium bodied, a touch clingy with prickly fizzy carbonation. Not so good.
