2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Nose strongly nutty and deeply roasty, beautiful ash and hard toast, dark chocolate. Pours deep cola with a soapy light brown head. Taste lightly sweet with little bitterness, touch of sharp tartness to begin, dries with time. Nutty, woody, deep chocolate, a little mineral color from the yeast, malt is thin and much of the roast has disappeared. Body is too full and doesn’t match well with the slight acidity.

16 miles, what are these guys doing in NJ? I got some of their beers at State Line a few months back, and I wasn’t that impressed, but I’m open-minded, so I figured I’d give them another shot. I actually thought this one was pretty solid. It isn’t a stand-out or anything, but I can see what they were going for, and I respect the effort.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
nice lighter body but full enough in flavors that include wheat wine and a muscatel like flavor cheerfully without that brown gravy character that seems incumbent to the style. touch of scotch peat to add an edge the brew looks nice, deep enough genuine brown with banded light brown head and an ending bitter but retreating closer to the endpoint. fruity butterscotch? nice brown drinker with a cooler warming bit of soul.
