Southern English Brown Ale. ***Voted best by regulars*** Demonstrates the robust flavors of chocolate and coffee. Muddy brown coloring and mild bittering provide a rich, smooth flavor profile; a proper reward after the harvest is over. Rich in agricultural history, the harvest is a critical part of life in Sussex County, Delaware, that spans the entire year. This beer celebrates those who feed their communities.

12. Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours dark brown with a big tan head that leaves a very decent lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee combined with some grain. Taste mostly roasted malts, coffee and chocolate notes, balanced with caramel flavors and a nice bitter finish. Nice beer, very enjoyable.

Cloudy, deep brown appearance with an average size off white head and modest lacing. Earthy aroma of roasted malts with hints of toffee sweetness. Flavors evolve nicely from the initial toasty caramel malts to a more complex blend of dark fruit, rich grains, coffee and smoke. Aftertaste is bittersweet, with a medium-to-full body and a lasting finish.

Bottle. Nose strongly nutty and deeply roasty, beautiful ash and hard toast, dark chocolate. Pours deep cola with a soapy light brown head. Taste lightly sweet with little bitterness, touch of sharp tartness to begin, dries with time. Nutty, woody, deep chocolate, a little mineral color from the yeast, malt is thin and much of the roast has disappeared. Body is too full and doesn’t match well with the slight acidity.

This is a tasty brown! My only knock is that it’s a tad on the watery side of the finish but all the flavor is there to make this complex and delicious. Has a cool transparent brown pour but w/out a head or any lacing. Enticing chocolate malt aroma. Very solid and quite nice for fall!

On tap at brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a fluffy white head that falls to a cap. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, and baked bread. Taste is caramel and baked bread, with light floral hops. Mouthfeel is smooth, with a medium body and moderate carbonation.

BREWMUSKCLES (2154) - New Jersey, USA - MAY 26, 2013
nice lighter body but full enough in flavors that include wheat wine and a muscatel like flavor cheerfully without that brown gravy character that seems incumbent to the style. touch of scotch peat to add an edge the brew looks nice, deep enough genuine brown with banded light brown head and an ending bitter but retreating closer to the endpoint. fruity butterscotch? nice brown drinker with a cooler warming bit of soul.

(12oz bottle) clear very deep brown, ring of fine white bubbles. Very roasty nose, manure, Melba toast, light stale chocolate. Taste of toast, meaty, sweet, off flavors. Not great. Roasty linger and fine carbonation.

12oz bottle-tan-mahogany. A-cocoa/roasty-med malt, some fruit. T-roasty-old med malt/barley, some sour fruit, earthy. The aftertaste becomes a yeasty detractor.

Bottle. Pours deep amber brown with a thin beige head. Lightly roasted malts, toasted bread, grains, hints of chocolate, and faint hoppy notes in the finish. Not bad.
