Dark pale ale.
An American ale that reserves its right to be different. A bit lighter in body, Old Court provides a citrusy hop aroma and caramel finish. 16 Mile names this ale for Sussex County’s original courthouse, which has been serving judicial needs since 1791. Today it stands on South Bedford Street just south of The Circle in historic Georgetown, Delaware.

Cloudy, reddish brown appearance with a small tan head and little lacing. Subtle caramel malt aroma with a hint of ripe fruit in the background. Taste is molassas, caramel malts and dark fruit followed by spicy hops. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with an average length finish. Would agree to disagree about the style it is listed under.

Poured from the bottle into a narrow pint glass to drink. The beer had a copper color with a slight dark amber hue and a large foamy off-white head that had very good retention and average lacing, but very little cling. Its aroma featured a strong caramel malt component blended with some citrus hops, and lighter touches of honey, lemon, and straw. The taste had a sweet and sour caramel malt flavor with only the lightest grainy bitterness. Its body was fairly airy with lower carbonation and a thin, watery mouthfeel without much life or thickness.

A-- Really like the aluminum bottle. Very well done. Poured an opaque golden brown. Short lived sand colored head that went quickly to film. Just a little bit of retention with a few swirls. Lots of very small carbonation bubbles on the side of the glass. S-- Lots of Carmel in the smell. Biscuit with spicy floral hops. Carmel really stands out well in this. T-- Burnt carmel, sweet carmel. Good amount of malt to this and touches of hops. Seems like an ESB to me. M-- Sweet with touches of bitterness. Front is sweet with the burnt carmel and back is floral bitter hops. Reminds me more of an ESB or a US take on it. Medium carbonation and medium feel to this.

Location: 12 oz bottle from State Line, 8/6/12

Aroma: The nose is kinda weak with some light caramel, toffee, fruity hints, and a little earthy hops
Appearance: Pours a caramel-amber color with a 2 inch foam of beige head and heavy lace-work
Flavor: The flavor of this one is somewhat malty, kind of sweet, a little bit soapy, and some light hops
Palate: The body is medium, it feels a bit on the sticky side, and it ends softly with a somewhat dull finish
Overall Impression: I didn’t find much to love here. This beer just feels a bit dull, and for an APA there is a clear lack of hops. If you call this something else, maybe I could go a touch higher on the score, (not much, but a touch) but as an APA, it’s a below average example for me.

12 ounce bottle. Redish brown color topped by a small beige head. Pleasant roasted malt nose hints at caramel and apples. Spicy toasted malt flavor with a citrus hop backdrop. Nice balance and body. Long bitter hop finish.

Pours translucent amber with a thin white lacing around the glass. Aroma is of sweet starch, light caramel, and pale malts. Flavor is sugary at first and leads into light hop finish. Refreshing, not bad.

This beer was terrible. It was flat with no carbonation or aroma. Taste was of stale grains and a watery texture. Maybe i got a spoiled can and i will re-rate if my next experience is any different.

Bottle shared with Linh. Pours a plain amber body with white lacing. Aroma is light sweet corn, grain, and sweet, fruity malts. Mouthfeel is thin and carbonated with notes of fruity malts, a light graininess and nothing else. Not overly offensive, but nothing I would ever prefer to drink personally.

I tried my best to get any aroma out of this beer to no avail. The most I could get was a bit of malt. The flavor is not bad, slightly bitter with a dry feel. A little thin going down. Just a bland beer.
