2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Poured from the bottle into a narrow pint glass to drink. The beer had a copper color with a slight dark amber hue and a large foamy off-white head that had very good retention and average lacing, but very little cling. Its aroma featured a strong caramel malt component blended with some citrus hops, and lighter touches of honey, lemon, and straw. The taste had a sweet and sour caramel malt flavor with only the lightest grainy bitterness. Its body was fairly airy with lower carbonation and a thin, watery mouthfeel without much life or thickness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Deep copper in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Sweet, caramel and red berry fruits, slightly earthy malts, a hint of toast and spice before a moderately bitter finish with some citrus hop in the background. Fine.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home. Aroma is caramel malt and faint dried fruit, like figs. Light bodied, semi sweet, clean, mild, slightly oxidized sherry notes, tasty but light malts, pleasant dry finish. If tasted blind I would call it an English mild.

Served on tap a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served an amber color with a one finger of a white foamy head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a bready and caramel smell along with some other aromas toffee. Some light smells of roasted malt as well as a little bit of grassy hop are in the nose as well producing a rather balanced aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a slightly grainy and bready taste with hints of caramel sweetness within. The caramel is light upfront, gaining intensity up through the middle of the taste. At that point the graininess begins getting stronger as well and some lighter fruit flavors of apple and pear coming to the tongue. Some lighter roasted flavors greet the tongue at the end and with a bit of toffee and a light grassy bite, end up leaving a rather moderately sweet, very lightly roasted, and grainy flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Both are rather appropriate of the sweeter, bready and grainy flavors of the brew matching the tastes well and making for an easy drinking brew.
Overall – A fairly pleasant and easy drinking ale. Not outstanding but nice none the less.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Amber colored body, medium to thin off-white head, spotty lacing. Pretty much wave after wave of caramel and toffee. Not much in the way of hop presence. Medium bodied, smooth carbonation, semi-sweet throughout, no perceptible bitterness in the finish.

Very pretty copper pour w/ a good beige head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is weak w/ some malt pushing through. The taste is kind of harsh. It’s not quite bitter but dry & unusual in a not so good way. Not really feeling this one!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
20140602 5oz at the 16 mile Taproom in Newark. I gave the bartender flack for the menu description of Dark Pale Ale. He said its less hoppy than APA and less malty than amber. Yup. Mildly hoppy and nicely dry. This is what I always imagine I’m going to get when I order a lighter English style. Nice Stine fruit notes. Clean as a whistle. I wonder if the bottles are different because I’d expect a better score for this.

Taster at the brewery. Almost an amber with white head. Not much aroma, mostly malt, toast and toffee... Pleasant dry finish.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Seems very malty for an APA. Pours a copper with little head. Very sweet malt on the nose. The taste is of caramel with some hops bitterness at the end. Little to low carbonation for diminished mouthfeel.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle, shared by DanielCoor. Clear amber color. Thin off-white head. Couple dots of lace. Caramel, sweaty aroma. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. Dry finish. Moderate bitter taste. No sweetness. A lot of caramel malt in the flavor. Toasty malt, some metallic, no hop character. Tastes a little oxidized, like a year old or so or more. Wasn’t sure what to make of this... Ok english-style old ale.
