Bottle. Dark brown beer with a strong white’ish head. The aroma is very gently bitter / almost no bitterness, and the flavour is quite roasted and bitter with a yeasty slightly dry herbal finish. Overall quite a disappointing yeasty and bitter flavoured beer.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Southampton.
Clean dark brown with no head. Not the best looking beer. Decent malt on the nose with some faint burnt caramel and not much else. Very dull in the mouth. More caramel and a slightly sour hint, although I don’t think it’s a condition issue. Decent bitterness in the finish saves the day and makes it drinkable.

Cask gravity at 3rd Wellington Beer Festival ’09, Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark amber with a small off white head. Earthy malt aroma and a rather sour earthy taste. Some bitterness. The effect is grim.
