At the brewery tap, with tashi, 13th April 2008. Still and gold, this has a predictable citrus aroma which is spoilt by notes of dust & plaster. The taste is bland and after trying the Hop Pocket, this was a real disappointment. 1648 can do better than this.

Bottle. Nice frothy head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are sour brett, stable, malt, fruits, flowers and hops. Not sure brett is intentional but I like it.

Cask at the White Rock Hotel, Hastings. Straw with a thin white head; the aroma is grainy and faintly citrus - I’m not sure at this point whether this is a Golden Ale or a cask lager; quite thin in the mouth, but with an assertive flavour - some indistinct sour fruit and some strong grains, with a touch of honeyed sweetness; then a dry finish. Interesting, but I don’t think I’d venture beyond one of these.

50 cl bottle @ chriso.
Rated on 20110722.
Pours hazy light yellow with large head, looks somewhat like champagne. Aroma of light sour fruits, spices and malts. Flavor of sour grassy fruits, butter and reminds me of jonge lambics. Probably a bit infected.

Cask conditioned at Minehead Beer Fest ’11. Pale gold with white head. Light, quite thinnish beer but with a light fruitiness in the close, passion fruit perhaps, leading to bitterness. It’s ok.

A pleasant hoppy bitter, with a nice wooly finish. It’s nice to have some interesting fresh hoppy tastes in my mouth after a trough of boring bitters.

Bottled (from Beers Of Europe). Golden colour, lively, big white head. Aroma is berries, some rather sour wooden notes as well as seabuckthorn. Flavour is sourish wood, some mild herbal notes as well as floral notes. Slightly infected, but in a good way.
