Doppelganger (1216), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Jun 30, 2008 Tin, Cowley Road Tesco, Oxford. Light orange, smallish amount of white head. Some DMS in the nose, not aggressive, but less pretty than it could be. A bit of herbal hops. Flavor is sort of vague white bread malt, but a slowly building garden sort of hop presense builds some interest. This stands in the uncomfortable middle ground between horrid pale lagers that wish to style themselves as pils, and the real full-on hoppy delciousness of the real thing. Not brilliant, but not so bad either.
CaryTheDude (489), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Nov 26, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Smells like skunk nast. Yup. Some of the best skunk pee I’ve ever tasted. Shannon127 (11), USA Oct 21, 2008 This is a very fine example of a czech pilsner beer. Not the most flavorful pilsner I have tried, but I think that is part of its appeal. A nice light crisp beer not overwhelmed by the hops. Head was nice but not long lasting. wheelz843 (120), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 5, 2008 bottle. bit of a hoppy, corny aroma. pours a light yellow with a little bit of white head. kind of a plain taste with not much flavor. lithilorn (122), Covilhă, Portugal Oct 4, 2008 Gold body and white head. grain, grass and carton aroma. sweet and littel bitter. a little watery, a medium pilsner. rederic (1513), montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 3, 2008 500ml bottle, labelled as B.B. Bürgerbräu, golden colr, with a white head, honeyish pale malt nose, with a hint of corn, with a faint floral hop accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a crisp sweet crunchy grainy pale malt character, with a hint of vanilla a mild flowery hop leafy note, leading towards a malty, lingering hop bitterness finish. A nice quenching pilsener.
