Draft at Gingerman NYC. The aroma is red wine, slight sour. The appearance is yellow, no head. The flavor is wine, Slightly sour, lemon. The finish is sour, tart lemon, acidic mouthfeel, medium in body. Same refreshing drink as original. But the wine barrel aging is a real winner. Excellent.

Location: Draft at Ginger Man, 4/12/13

Aroma: The nose of this one had a nice mix of tart/sour, and fruity notes, some apple, and wood
Appearance: This one pours a clear golden color with a thin bubbly white head
Flavor: The taste was on target with the nose, an interesting and tasty mix of tart and fruity
Palate: The body is medium, and overall, it has a pretty nice mouthfeel
Overall Impression: This was an interesting beer. I didnít realize what this series was at the time, but after reading a little more about it, it sounds like a really cool series that B. United has put together. Iíll be on the lookout to find more of these.

On tap at TÝrst with Max, Ramy, GT & Whitney, Podey, Andy, Pearl, and maybe some others later. Pours a hazy gold with a thin white head. The gin is definitely here, but very subtle. Soft musk and funk, lively citrus and a touch of wood and booze, which is funny on a berliner. Medium bodied, tart and funky with a bit of old wood and the gin comes through again. Long gin overtones. Lingering tartness, light funk. This was super cool.

Draft. Light golden pour with white head. Nice sour lacto, Brett an wine tones in aroma. Gin comes into the flavor and makes the tartness a little more subtle.

Tap at Torst. Pours glowing straw with Medium white foam. Good lacing. Nose is baby powder, sweet cream butter, fresh lemon, mild detergent. Taste is bright, medium gin barrel heat and spice, sweet cream butter, sour tangerine and pineapple. Very good. Not overwhelming with the gin. Bright and fresh. Nice buttery chardonnay abounds. Finishes a bit mealy.

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2012 on tap at St. Sour Day. this was a treat to have with its slight bready, sour notes escaping the glass of this very bright yellow, slightly cloudy, under a frothy white head. the taste of sour lemonade up front and hints of spice from what could have been the gin barrel aging. There was definitely a different taste than other berliner weisse Iíve ever tasted there and Id bet it was from the barrels. The bubbly effervescent body was spot on for the high carbonation in this style. the carbonation helps to add a bit of the bite. Overall this was a very good and unique beer that definitely used a unique flavor and approach with the gin barrel. So glad I had a chance to try this.

eh, German sour? funky stuff, I liked it. Ití;s very light colored and bodied, tasted of fruit and a pretty good amount (though no overpowering) of lactic tartness. I found it complex, and very refreshing at the same time.
