3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a very cloudy yellow with a big and foamy white head. Aroma contains mostly banana and wheat, with some elements of lemon and orange tucked in there as well. The taste brings out some different impressions. Instead of being undertones, the lemon and orange flavors are really bold. Especially the lemon. Lots of wheat in here, and I find some spice as well. Surprisingly, this one has a lot of tartness. Aftertaste of tart lemon lingers for a long time, enough so that you even get it on your lips afterwards. The body is light, texture is bubbly and sticky, while there is lots of fizzy carbonation. I admit that I was surprised by this one. I was expecting more of something traditionally German. Instead I got something more of a sour ale. What a pleasant discovery.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this at the Sour Soiree with the South Sound crew, and was unimpressed, but then again, there were more than 30 sours there, so not all that fair IMO.
Pours a clouded light grainy yellow with a loose, vibrant three fingers of white foam. This falls over 5 or so minutes to leave a solid sheet. Lots of funky Brett on the nose, with some wheat and yeast and peppercorn notes. Don’t really anticipate sourness. Very lightly tart with a solidly wheaty flavor and some hints of metal. The brett plays second fiddle to the lactic acid. There are plenty of subtle tones in the beer, and I would hesitate to put syrup in this one, as it’s fairly refreshing as is. Medium to full bodied with hi carb and semi dry finish. Nice beer, better than last time.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured a light hazy yellow color from the bottle with aromas of tart wheat, some hay and light lemon. Flavors are the same, light and tart on the palate very refreshing in the summer.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle to Chimay glass. Pours a pale golden color with a large, two-finger white, airy head. The head crackles and recedes to a 1/2 finger velvety white cloud. Skunky aroma that fades once the brew opens up. Taste is fruitier than other Berliners I’ve had. The yeast presents itself first with the familiar bubblegum of a wheat beer. Wheat malt follows and stays throughout the sip, swallow, and after. Mildly tart -- there is no need for Woodruff syrup here, although I imagine that would be enjoyable. A little lemony and not very spritzy. Leaves the tongue feeling slippery.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours cloudy yellow gold with a pure white head that rises and falls quickly. Aromas of wheat, lemon, yeast. Powerful caronation carries flavors of lemon, wheat, grape skins. Just a bit of yeasty funk. Tart and refreshing.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 16.9 ounce bottle into a Spiegelau tulip. No freshness date found on bottle.
Appearance: This one was a bit of a gusher when I opened it. Pours a hazy honey gold with a huge 4-5 finger frothy snow white head which dissipates fairly quickly leaving a small ring of white foam on top.
Smell: A nice tart funkiness mixed with sour apples and white wine grapes accompanied by typical German wheat notes and a hint of sweetness.
Taste: Sour funky notes throughout without being overly puckering. There is a nice German wheat character to this one that goes great with the sour fruitiness that comes through. Notes of green apple, lemon and white grapes come through as well. Aftertaste is very light and mildly funky.
Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and and crisp with a high amount of prickly carbonation. Very smooth.
Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. This is a very refreshing beer which would be perfect on a hot summer day. You could easily drink multiples without any trouble.
Overall: Excellent beer overall. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and would put it up there with any unflavored Berliner Weisse that I’ve tried. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.
