grant (739), Martinez, California, USA Mar 1, 2008 Hazy lemony yellow, witbierish appearance. Grainy aroma, wet dog, leaves, lightly tart fruit (gummy bears). Empty grainy flavor, tart, undersweetened. Surprisingly transparent flavor, very clean, no aftertaste whatsoever, no yeast development. Almost imperceptible bitterness, very sharp carbo. Dry lemonade, uninteresting.
zappafan99 (213), Rock Hill, South Carolina, USA Jul 8, 2008 Taste 7/8. Crazy carbonation. Very active pour. Pale yellow, with a large thick white champagne head. Aroma: Crisp champagne and fruit. Taste: Tart sourness. Sweet smooth and dry. Interesting and drinkable. ehhdayton (1078), USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a cloudy golden with a white head. There is an acidic-sour like aroma. Flavor is slight tart and has a light fruit background, with a lighly acidic finish. Overall did not have quite the pucker power that I was under the impression a Berlner weisse would have. Still a decent brew. coldbrewky (456), Saugerties, New York, USA Jul 6, 2008 .5 L from the local rip and run. Average pour yeilds effervessant and lively rolling white head that dissipates quickly. Pours a hazy honey yellow. A bit murky in the glass. No lacing. Citrusy nose. Bitter and acidic on tounge. Corriander and cloves along with some whispy orange peel fade into a hint of cherries on this average length of mouth. I was impressed with the commercial desription and the no wort boil bit. None too shabby. Nice on this hot day. BigBen2120 (540), Gardiner(52 miles from Allagash), Maine, USA Jul 2, 2008 500ml brown bottle from Ron’s Market in Farmington. Pours a hazy light straw color with a good inch of short-lived off-white head. Smells fruity/citrussy, spicy, and slightly sour. Tastes fruity - citrus, apple, equally sweet and sour with a fairly dry clean finish. Light bodied with ample carbonation. Tasty, unique, complex, and super-drinkable. A new favorite! GMCC2181 (303), Bear, Delaware, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle: I have only had one other berliner weisse but I really enjoyed it, which made me seek out this one. The 1809, did not dissappoint me! The bottle has a history lesson written on it and its uses.... Cool in a dorky way... But on to the beer itself. Poured a cloudy/murky yellow color, big head of course. Smells fruity. Taste is pleasently smooth. A tartiness that I really like. Fruits and spices also thrown in. Lots of subdued lemon in the beer taste. The texture is light and easy to drink. Lots of carbonation but it didnt taste that way. Perfect for a hot summer day. I will never drink a nice glass of lemonade any more this beer will takes it place!....Overall a beer that I would recommend and would buy agian. A great example of what this type of beer should taste like! DAS GOOD BEER!
