Amazing complexity, with shockingly sour black fruit notes up front above undertones of dark chocolate and roasted black coffee. Super creamy, milky mouthfeel. Finishes on a note of ash and charcoal, with a super subtle vanilla bean note lingering.

Sampled at The Festival 2015 in St. Petes with Vinny. Pours a deep blackish brown body with short head. Mouthfeel is soft and medium bodied with notes of cocoa, oak, chocolate and round malt. Subtle notes of vanilla and bourbon towards the finish.

On tap at Festival, pours black with small to medium beige head. Notes are mostly malt with a little bit of cocoa and wood but honestly it needed more of a rich character with sweeter chocolate and barrel. Vanilla bean, hazelnut, dark malt, and grain. Medium in body.

bottle thanks to Shad, tons of vanilla. Thick and sweet, not very drinkable, tons of sweet candy vanilla flavors.

I hardly ever give reviews under 3, but i had no other choice. I traded a really good stout thinking this was going to hold up, but there was nothing there. Tasted like a mass produced watered down stout with no real flavor. Hoping for better with their next releases.

Draft: Pours oily cola...with a dark tan head. Aroma is vanilla, chocolate. Chocolate, cola, vanilla malt taste. Rich..with a slight bourbon edge. Excellent.

Draft. Wood ash and vanilla-chocolate malt aroma. Black with small head. Sweet vanilla and chocolate malt and lightly bitter ash flavor. Hint of bourbon in the finish.

Draft on tap at Goose Island Stout Fest 2014 (Chicago, IL). Pours a deep rich blackish hue, dark and opaque with good legs, some darker brown head that sticks around ok, laces ok. Aromas are rich vanilla bean, a bit of cocoa and a touch of roast. Some sweet caramel and toast. Initial is a bit thinner, with gentle spirit, lactose and some caramel. Touches of gentle roast, earth, ash. Touches of vanillin, gentle toasty and carmelized malt. A bit roasty and dry on the backend, a bit too thin overall, the barrel shows a touch of metallic character, sticky vanilla and toast. Finish is a bit dry, sticky and carmelized, lingering vanilla and toast. Solid. I prefer regular Hunter to be honest, the barrel seems to muddy this up a bit, the vanilla bean is pleasant but also seems to get lost at times.
