Here is a father’s toast to his son. Brewed with cocoa nibs and lactose, Hunter boasts a creamy texture and rich chocolate flavor. Vanilla, roast, and caramel sweetness are met with a bright hop bitterness. Complex enough to pair with dinner or dessert. Suave enough to skip the meal altogether. A chip off the old block, alright.

Bottle thanks to Seth. Dark brown pour with a brown head. Lactose and mild chocolate aromas. Caramels, chocolates, lactose, vanilla, and dark roasted malts. Good body. Very good mouthfeel. Slightly strange aftertaste, maybe from the lactose.

22 oz bottle shared by beerpig317. Pours a dark cola brown with a small beige head. The aroma has roast, ash, chocolate, mild oatmeal sweetness and a touch of coffee. The flavor has roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, some lactose sweetness and a touch of coffee bitterness to the finish. This is bigger and more dry than most sweet stouts. Pretty good though.

Bottle shared by beerpig317. Poured dark brown color with medium tan frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate, vanilla and coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark chocolate, vanilla sweet flavor with a medium to heavy dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded with a very good stout.

Bomber. Pours a stouty brownish-black, medium espresso-colored head that dissipated quickly to a film. Nose is roasty, some coffee, bakers chocolate, vanilla and licorice. Mouth is sticky and full-bodied, bittersweet with lots of roasted barely, malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and some caramel at the end. Nice.

22oz bottle, shared by beerpig317. Good dark brown color. Thin light brown head. Plenty dots of lace. Awesome Three Floyds -esque label. Great big coffee aroma. Sweet taste, but good bitterness, too. Lighter carbonation, bigger body. More dry in the finish. Good chewiness. My kind of sweet stout.

Bomber to snifter (thanks Beerpig317). Looks good; a mostly opaque dark cola with beige lacing. Smells good too; smooth, dark, and roasty. Tastes like it smells with some vanilla too, and a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

Killer label. Nice one with light peat and smoke notes, sweet caramel, lots of bitterness and lots of sweetness.

Bottle and served in snifter: Pours basically opaque with a rich tan head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roast, char, coffee, vanilla and resiny hop esters. A tad earthy, tobacco and grainy as well. The taste delivers on what is expected with an initial crush of choc/van/roast malt overtone with more coffee-ish and hop bitterness in support. Some lactic acid twang but not all that sweet nor fruity. The finish is a tad harsh and green, seems boozier than 8%... this is really an Imperial Stout in Milk Stout clothing.

22 ounce bottle shared among 6. Roasted malt aroma, dark chocolate and mild hop presence (reminiscent of yin-yang), some fired, spicy coffee beans. Appearance is a very dark brown, bordering on black with a solid dose of brown head on top that sticks around for a while. The taste is bigger than I expected for a sweet stout: unsweetened chocolate, malt, roasted coffee beans, and a minor amount of cayenne. Palate is pretty hearty for a sweet stout, thick, creamy and smooth. Overall, a surprisingly good, relaxing sweet stout from a brewer that’s bound to get big quick. They put an awesome label on it too.
