Real Blond Ale
A combination of strength and subtlety. A pure malt beer with a wide palette of flavours to drink as an aperitif or to be served with country-style cooking (mussels and chips, herrings, poultry, stews etc.).

Bottle from La Grand Epicerie. Nicely balanced. Aromas of grain, bread, and vanilla. Taste is sweet, with sour notes, and long length. Palate is creamy, and medium bodied. Orange, with a frothy head.

Brown 33cl bottle, best before 31st Dec 2012. Poured into a ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ stemmed tulip. This is the first beer in an ’odd ball reviewing evening’ (June 2011). Almost pilsner in looks, bright golden yellow with a good deep snow white foaming head. I left the sediment in the bottle, hence the clean, clear appearance. The yeasty aroma tells you it isn’t a pilsner, the smell is a good blend of mixed herbs and spices along with the yeast esters. The flavours found in the smell are all there within the taste also, lovely well balanced brew which has good carbonisation and an alcohol content that is happy to stay in the background rather than taking over like some beers within this style. A peppery feel in the aftertatse, very pleasant. A good beer, easy to drink and one of the best I’ve had from France (who as brewers are going up in my estimation).

Superbe biere de garde. Cette blonde doree bien voilee genere un col persistant de bulles moyennes. Des aromes de cereales et de fruits legers. Equklibre parfait entre sucre et amertume. Attaque sur le miel, final doux.

Bottled. Cloudy golden, average head. Buttery, lightly cellary nose. Dryish and soft with notes of butter and newly mown grass. An uncomplicated laid back beer, fairly light in body and with average bitterness. Typical French ale - I like it!

Bottle. Gold, hazy. Lots of yeast. First Biere-De-Garde sampled. This is really good, flavourful but "light", has character but not very "demanding".

Huge, very dense & fine just yellowish head, persistent and leaving fine lace over golden beer with orange highlights. Fruity, hot malts, gassy, garden weeds & herbs. Toasted malts, bit of caramel, tad sweet with a fine bitterish finish, and a CO² enhanced sourishness. Flowery, more garden herbs. Delicate but sure balance. Titillating, not fizzy; light to medium body. Excellent, light drinking ale - pity about the too discreet nose. Worth looking for!

Hazy orange-yellow color, decent cloudy white head, some lace. Citrus, grass, paper and sweet fruits in the nose. Fruity, refreshing blonde. Apricot, fruit sugar. Good malty backbone. Suprisingly tasty French brew, very Belgian.

(75 cl bottle at Ambleteuse, France) Very nice blonde beer. Would drink again if I had the opportunity.
