tap at the brewpub - Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is mainly of caramel malt as is the flavor. It’s sweet and has just a small hint of coffee in the taste. It’s medium bodied and the carbonation seems to be overdone. It’s not too bad, but certainly not impressive either.

On tap at the brewpub. Chocolate laden nose with some restrained caramel sweetness and a hint of butter toffee diacetyl. Mostly hazy, dark brown colored pour with tobacco ruddy shades and a finger of quickly dissipating tan head. Medium bodied, heavy mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation. Chocolate overload. I’m not picking up on any Munich malt at all, but getting enough dextrinous chocolate to feel like I’m eating dessert. Some butter toffee comes through toward the end of the palate, flabbing up the mouthfeel a bit, but not enough to destroy the beer. Too much chocolate, not enough complexity. Don’t like the diacetyl.
