Ale brewed with fennel seed, chia seed, and pink peppercorns - with mission figs added. In the 1700s and 1800s, missionaries and Native Americans grew a variety of crops along the El Camino Real. Apart from the famous mission grapes, mission figs, barley, and olives, fennel and chia were also grown... (The brewers) tried to recapture some of the historic flavors of the old Camino Real by brewing this beer...

Vollmundiger schokolasiger Antrunk, sehr cremig. Weiterhin äußerst vollmundig, gleichzeitig stark süffig. Bis zum Ende nur minimal alkoholisch. Harmonisch, deutliche Kafeenoten aber nur wenig Röstigkeit. Super! 13/14/13/12//13

Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas during the three day Stone Event, 16-18 september 2011. Creamy light brown head, opaque black color. Smell hops, fruits, dark fruits and lightly bitter. Taste is a little less good than the smell, but still nice hoppy and some fruityness. Very nice mouthfeel and a medium to full body.

A deep dark earthy ASA. Pours a deep dark brown with a nose of dry hops and malts. This was a great beer fresh and I’m hoping that the one I saved will be even better (a touch less hot and more balanced) with a year or 2 on it.

Draught Huge dark-cream head with textbook lace over fully black beer. Liquorice drop, resin and some chocolate aromas. Sweet and bitter full chocolate, green dark leaves (aucuba). Some tobacco in the finish and even more liquorice warming up. Well-bodied, quite slick, but lacking flavours in the palate a bit. Nice, if less overpowering great than some other Stone brews. I have to confess never having heard of "chia", so it’s no wonder I do not recognize it. Shame on me.
