COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep golden color. Citrus and piney hop aromas. Assertive malt backbone supporting the overwhelming bitterness. Dry hopped in the fermenter with four types of hops giving an explosive hop aroma. Previously known as 21A-IPA.

Twelve ounce can bought from Remke/biggs in Westen Hills, tasted on December 16, 2011. Somewhat cloudy golden/amber hue, large light tan/orange head that slowly diminished with good lacing, nice sweet/piney /hoppy nose, taste of hops that coat the tongue without being too assertive, good "malt backbone" like the can says, pleasant bittersweet finish. Not the biggest IPA out there but everything hangs together well.

Maybe my can was old, but this isn’t a very good IPA. It has a fairly sweet malt flavor & does have some hop aspects to it, but when I think Westcoast IPA I’m not thinking this beer. The hops are dominated by a Munich type grain bill. The Bitter American is a much better beer (to style).

pour from a can into a pint glass. bottom of can says canned on 01-05-12, so about 33 days ago.nice lingering large head, thin aroma, clear golden orange pour. i never know if it is from the can, but while the hops are definitely there, they seem a bit muted. however, as far as canned IPAs go, this one is up there. i would rate this above the Sly Fox 113 IPA in cans, and even with Dales Pale Ale (an IPA’ish Pale Ale). The net is that if you are camping, going to the beach, or a Caribbean country when the beer selection stinks, this is a good alternative. I have found the cans travel well.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Appearance is lightly hazy gold with a fluffy white head of foam. Lackluster head retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is nicely floral and citrusy. Tastes bitter at first but slowly migrates to a citrus sweetness that rests on the tongue and leaves a lingering aftertaste. Pretty good IPA. Definitely worth picking up if you get the chance.

12oz can. A golden amber with a nice large lasting off white head on the pour with good lacing through out. Aroma is citrus piney hops, some caramel malt with some fruity notes. Bitter earthy piney hops dominate along with some good caramel malt and some grapefruit and citrus fruitiness. Palate is a med to full bodied clean crisp mouth feel. Finish is an earthy, piney spicy hops, some nice citrus notes with some good caramel malt on the end for balance. This brew has a big hop bite, a hop heads delight. Overall a very good IPA.

Can. Pours clear golden brown with a lingering head. Aroma is dominated by citrus notes from the hops. Flavor is a bitter and astringent hop attack with little resistance from the malts. Somewhat difficult to drink due to the faint metallic and oily flavor of the hops. I may need to give this one another chance in the future.

Can. Pours out a yellowish color with a white head on it. Smell is fruity with plenty of citrus and grspefruit in the nose. Taste sweet and hoppy with no alcohol noted. Easy drinking and smooth. Not bad.
