Amber Waves incorporates five different caramel malts to impart complexity, adding a little honey-like sweetness, as well as dark, roasted caramel flavors. To give it an aroma and finish that transports one to an orange grove, 21st Amendment’s brewers used All-American Centennial hops.

2011 GABF Gold Medal winner in the American Style Amber/Red Ale category.

Tap @ 21 A. Deep amber, hazy color with light head retention. Aroma is earthy piney hops and tones of caramel and toffee. Flavor is not going to surprise you but it is solid. Mirror image of the aroma with the toffee and caramel upfront with the earthy pine bitterness in the finish. My favorite among the sample flight. I guess this won a medal in 2011? Yep, it sure did!

Deep flavor with a hint of coffee accent. Overall dark brown in color. Would be good dinner beer to match a red steak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at brewpub in downtown SF-June 2012-pours copper hue with a fizzy whtie head. nose of carmel, piney earthy hops. flavors have a very nice mild malt profile-sweet and crisp with some sugar cookie like qualities. lots of earthy hops in there as well. comes across more of an ESB with a sweeter malt profile. very clean ferment and more enjoyable than most ambers. For this style, this is awesome!

I was expecting something a little more balanced. Had a good nose but the palate was unbalanced for me... I was fighting a head cold when I visited... Still would try and buy again
