COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.

Far too much bitter black malt flavor. It completely dominates the beer leaving no hoppy experience on the nose or palate. This is pretty much just a stout not a black IPA.

A strong black IPA that has a strong ABV finish. To me it was a sipping beer.

Can to English Pint glass. Pours reddish black, two finger khaki head, nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, citrus hops and coffee. Taste is bitter from the hops and bittersweet from the dark malts. Nice balance. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly sticky mouth feel. Finishes with notes of smoke, dark chocolate, coffee that is moderately bitter. Good stuff.

Can to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks good; a slightly translucent dark cola with foamy beige head. Smells of dark malt and hops with a bit of roast; a little unbalanced though. Some of that cat piss Simcoe-forward presence on the nose that isn’t really aversive, but could use some balance. Tastes like it smells, only more balanced, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel for the style. Enjoyable, and tastes better than it smells.

Lots of dark chocolate in this with a little roast and light citrus hop elements. Definitely balances more on the roast side. Pours dark mahogany with good mocha head and lacing. Finishes with elements of sweet caramelized roast and light bitter, mostly from roast/dark chocolate rather than a lot of hops. Can.

Second black ipa - also interesting. Dark cola pour fizzy dark white head. Light nose. Roasted malts and hoppy botterness blending together - not quite an ipa not quite a stout or porter. But nice - overall. Mouthfeel a bit thin imo however.

Black, mild IPA with slightly bitter finish. Minimal aroma. Caramel with fairly smooth malt flavor.
