3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Gubancs. Reminiscent of a stout but with the hoppiness of an IPA. Slight taste of chocolate.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aluminum can: Poured a medium brown liquid and was topped with a gentle film of foam. Aroma is subtle with a minor perfume of hops that have faded away with time. Nose also picks up notes of sweet syrupy malts that might have a chance of roast but that too has faded. The drink is well balanced between the hops and the malts and despite the shelf life one month past its expiration, the beer still taste good. It does have a bit of sour milk or bitter citrus peel but minimal and is really only noticed in the finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

sample from can, poured a deep brown colour with a mocha coloured head. nose is roasted coffee, toasted malts, citrus notes, slight resinous pine needles, licorice, pretty hop bitter aftertaste. not really a classic black ipa imo.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
How: 12 ounce can, from mixed six-pack.
Appearance: Looks a lot like coffee. Even the head has a creamy, bone-like tone to it.
Aroma: sweet and piney hops with notes of roasted malts.
Taste: First piney, then malty, then piney again, and a final wash of cocoa malts. A fair bit of cocoa powder, toast malts, lactose, and oatmeal accompany the piney body.
Palate: Medium bodied, yet still crisp and refreshing. Moderate carbonation props it up and finishes on a semi-dry parch.
Overall: I thought the balance of flavors that were helped from the mouthfeel really made this a good ale.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has some grassy hops and roasted malt but I doesn’t go into stout territory. Taste is quite good and really balanced. There are grassy/resiny hops but also a good amount of roasted malt. There is a nice bitterness on the finish, roasty but also hoppy. Light to medium body with medium to low carbonation. Overall it’s a quite good BIPA.

2.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
translucent brown with thin white head. medium body with moderately high carbonation.
aroma: rich chocolate roast, crystal malt, carob, licorice, piney fruity hops.
taste: sour upfront, nice hoppy middle, ashy burnt vegetable in swallow, hop bitterness in finish..
smells great, tasted not so great. lacks hop aroma and flavor, not that it’s not there, but that it’s muddled in with the roasted character and gets lost.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz can, poured into a pint glass. Dark reddish brown, with a nice tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, pine, coffee, light licorice, black currants, grapefruit / citrus. Some citrus comes through in the taste. Well balanced black IPA. Would recommend to friends.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
DATE: June 3, 2016... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... OCCASION: Relaxing after a nice coach pitch win....pours a powerful three-finger brown head that is creamy, rocky, foamlike lacing... the black body akin to cola... aroma has the strength of punchy citrus--lemon, watermelon--with the malt-forward spiciness, especially pepper and toasted bread.... the palate is warming, slightly crunchy, dry at the finish, and nicely textured for a beer at 6.8% ABV... medium-bodied and, as the write-up suggests, quite mellow.... the flavor is malty, spicy and hoppy in balance... enough citrus exists to evoke an IPA, while the low end bakes nicely in the taste buds... another quality offering from 21st Amendment, and a beer that dangerously entices the drinker to session...

Can. Dark reddish brown. Hoppy aroma. Floral, grassy, minty. Taste is sticky date, cherry and fig, cola, baking bread. Nice bitterness. Feels more of a hoppy brown than black IPA but good stuff regardless.
