Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.

Canned and tasty. This is one of the better black IPAs. Not overly roasted so not so heavy. Plenty of hops and a good crisp finish.

Alengrin (1347) - BELGIUM - AUG 31, 2014
One of those craft beers that come in cans nowadays. Creamy, beige head over a near black beer with wine-red hue. Aroma of black coffee, salty liquorice candy, soy sauce, chocolate, vanilla, citrus peel, sweet tobacco, candi syrup, banana, caramel, leather, sherry. Sharp dark maltiness with fairly strong carbonation, slick, oily and granular mouthfeel, spicy, chocolatey, candied fruits, roasted bitterness increasing in strenght and assisted by bourbon-like, warming alcohol and citrussy hop bitterness in the finish. Very good example of its style.

From a can. Pours dark brown, like cola, with a massive beige head. Good cling. Aroma of floral hops and sweet malt. Flavors are chocolate, vanilla, coffee, nutty tones. Hint of licorice in the finish. Fairly light mouthfeel. Really good!

Salmoniform (575) - Sweet Home, Oregon, USA - AUG 18, 2014
Poured from can to glass. Dark brown hue with creamy off white head that lingered nicely. Aroma is pine, citrus oil, coffee, dark caramel, roast. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium-full body and zesty carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness followed by a mix of hop & astringent malt bitterness. Overall this was a bit too heavy and astringent for my personal taste. I prefer my CDAs to be a bit lighter bodied and not as malt astringent. Little hop fruitiness on the nose. This was more like a Porter than a CDA.

Can into snifter glass, deep ruby brown color with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and grapefruity/citrus/pine hops. Taste adds notes of coffee, some dark fruit, caramel and faint spiciness. Light-medium body, low carbonation, dry, soft with roasty/citrus/hop bitterness lingering. Nice black IPA, well balanced.

Canned on 02/04/14. Agressive pour. Nice dark, black color with a big tan creamy head. lots of awesome lacing. Aroma is citrus, orange, grapefruit with a very sligtht bit of maltiness at the end. Taste is big roasted coffee flavor right up front, that settles down in the middle before dissolving into a big hop flavor. Not as balanced as some black IPAs I’ve had but it delivers a really nice hoppiness that I expect from a black IPA. Firestone’s Wookey Jack is better but this is still very good. Would definitely buy again.

Can. Piney roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate. Taste is very balanced. Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, caramel, pine, citrus and some hop bitterness. Very good thick mouthfeel. Very good black ipa, one of the top on my list.
