3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 guzzler67 (1392) - Hanover, USA - OCT 18, 2010
Tan head with good lacing atop a deep brown body. Roasted malts and sprucey hops battle for attention in the aroma. Caramel malts, with a touch of smoke and sweetness balance the bitter hoppiness. Even the finish reflects the divergent styles. While not terribly complex, it is still interesting and palatable.

Härligt namn på en öl. Dock inte helt svart utan mer mot mörkt brun. Relativt lite humle i både doft och smak för att vara en Black IPA. Mer rostade toner och choklad.

12oz can. Pours a rich deep black with a lasting tan head, good lacing. Aroma and Taste of rich lightly roasted dark malts, yeast, with some floral piney hops bitterness. Palate is a medium to full body with mild carbonation. Finish is sweet roasted dark chocolate malts, some light dark fruity notes ending is a sweet malty floral piney hops flavor. This brew was not overly hopped ( bitter ) but more dark malts. Overall it was a good drinking and tasty brew, enjoyable to drink.

Pours a dark brown with a tannish head. Aroma is citrusy and some roasted nuts and caramel. Flavor is hoppy with some roast as well, moslty citrus but some hoppy bitterness. Pretty decent black IPA.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FunkyBrewster (1380) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 20, 2012
12oz can. Pours deep brown with a small creamy light tan head. Aroma is a bit roasty and chocolate, some graininess, some sweet caramel and bread notes, hops are a bit subdued, somewhat herbal and earthy. Flavor starts roasty and chocolate, again very sweet with the hops more in the background. Still herbal, a bit piney but otherwise pretty background. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Not enough hoppiness, too sweet.

Can, Taco Asylum. Coffee, chocolate & hops on the nose. Taste is Hershey’s chocolate & coffee followed by balanced hops ending in a long finish. Awesome beer.

Nose is kind of weak but I do smell a roasted maltiness and a slight bit of hops. Poured a nice mahogany color with a pillowy white head that looked great. Taste is a nice blend of the malt and hops. Feels medium body and a little creamy and a bitter finish.

Pours nice and dark. Roast coffee and mild to light citrus hops aroma. Body seems a bit to light. Nice roast malt, slight coffee taste with a mild bitter finish. A nice approachable dark IPA.

Can sample at a tasting in our place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Pours black, opaque, with an off-white film. Hemp and evergreen aroma, bitter, subtle roast, but mostly bitter taste. Light-to-medium body, good fizz, bitter-roasty finish. Nice.

Nice hoppy aroma with some roasted malt as. Hops are grassy and citrus, malt brings out some coffee scents. Taste is smooth, roasted malts balance nicely with hops. There is something odd with the finish though, which keeps it from being great. Still a good black ipa though.

Dark brownish amber in color with a tan head. Lightly roasty malt in flavor with a punchy bit of hops in the finish.
