Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.

True to its name, Backd In Black pours black. Thick, creamy head, leaving a fair amount of lacing. Mild hop aroma, and I smell sweet pepper. Taste is a little surprising, with the expected hop bitterness and typical IPA malt being mixed with smoky chocolate. I had no idea this would be so porter-ish, but I am quite happy with it. Bitter aftertaste hung on so long after the first two sips that it was kind of off-putting. Get past that though, and this is a tasty brew.

Dark pour with a ruby hue. The aroma is mildly hoppy with a malty backbone. The taste follows the aroma and has an easy finish.

12 fl oz can. Pours dark ruby-brown with a large foamy biege head leaving lots of lacing and aroma of roasted malts and citrusy hop. Dark malty flavour, with roast, molasses, coffee, and tangy citrus grapefruit and woody pine bitterness. Fairly smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry roast bitter finish. Very drinkable BIPA.

Nice and malty, smooth bitterness, pleasant piney hop character not overwhelming. Well balanced black IPA.

355ml can. Amber pour. Aroma is floral cocoa cardboard, some wafer. Flavor is mild but ashy and bitter, herbal flavor, not really intriguing.

12oz can. Cola brown with one finger off white head. Malty caramel aroma with some pine. Roasted malt back bone, pine in the background. Good.

12 oz. can. Pours a dark cola brown with a 2 finger creamy beige head which recedes to leaves gobs of lace. Dark malt and pine resin on the aroma and the flavor as well. The interplay of hints of chocolate and pine resin hoppiness is interesting and delicious. Body is to the full side with a velvet like feel on the tongue. Nice!

Very nice and smooth offering. Aroma is a nice mix of toasted barley and hops. Taste is wood and bittersweet chocolate. Dark black (though thin) with a big fat white head. Medium carbonation.

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Stamped Enjoy by 7/3/15.It is one day later! Yipes! The pour is very dark brown under a boisterous, fluffy tan head. Not black as I thought it might be. The malt sweetness is the first thing I get in the aroma followed by a kind of floral hop presence. Medium body. The immediate sweetness makes way for a solid hop bitterness to close it out. It was a likable enough beer but might have been more likable 3 months ago.

Can. Brownish-black pour, massive tan head with amazing retention. Nose is roast, wheat puffs, pine. Mouth is medium bodied, relatively dry, cocoa, coffee, roast, pine, medium bitterness throughout, I’m not a huge fan of the style generally speaking, but this is solid.

Can share round at Richy’s. Clear, cola brown. Film of tan head. Fruity, chocolate malts. Some pine resin. Taste is a decent balance of resin bitterness, and fruity sweetness. Smooth palate, with crisp carbonation. Finish is long, fruity, chocolatey, piny bitter.
