COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish.

Can to a glass mug. Pours a dark amber color. More brown than amber. Dark but clear. Medium tan head with good lacing. Real smokey flavor, and good IPA bite. A bit on the watery side, but not too much. Nice black IPA

Can. Brownish-black pour, massive tan head with amazing retention. Nose is roast, wheat puffs, pine. Mouth is medium bodied, relatively dry, cocoa, coffee, roast, pine, medium bitterness throughout, I’m not a huge fan of the style generally speaking, but this is solid.

Can share round at Richy’s. Clear, cola brown. Film of tan head. Fruity, chocolate malts. Some pine resin. Taste is a decent balance of resin bitterness, and fruity sweetness. Smooth palate, with crisp carbonation. Finish is long, fruity, chocolatey, piny bitter.

27th June 2015: 12oz can split between five of us at the 2nd Annual Midlands tasting. Cheers Martin for this offering. The deep, dark mahogany body had a red hue around the edges, the head a thin beige covering. Slight smokiness to the whole brew: the over roasted malts rule the nose and flavour with that smoke feeling always in the background: no one else seems to mention it much in their ratings, but it stood out for me. Decent enough beer, but I am not really into smoky beers.

Draught in The Creamery. Black with a red hue. Aroma of toasted fruit. Flavour is burnt fruit, dry bitter, a little sticky sour in the finish. Long dry bitter finish,

12oz bottle from Hippo Beers. Almost black, big foamy head. Hoppy aroma. Treacle hop flavour. Chilli hop aftertaste. Big spicy Black IPA.

Pour is a dark brown with a small creamy tan head. Aroma is pleasantly hoppy with bit of a roasty note. Flavor is more of the dark malts. Kinda loses the hops in the flavor but still decent. Not the best black IPA as the hops are not pronounced but the roasted black malt is ok.

Can at home picked up from Mother Kelly’s. Clear dark caramel brown coloured pour with red hues and a big lasting light tan head. Aroma is nice mix of dark malts, cocoa, toast, burnt pine needles, citus lemon hop. later a little soap on the nose. Flavour is composed of toasted malts, biter roast, pine needle, citrus fruit. Lingering roast and citrus. This is pretty archetypal for the style. I’ve been told that this is the same recipe as Kernel’s black IPA. Palate is medium bodies, little creamy and highish carbonation. Good stuff.
