Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Oak and grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor with summer fruit. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Grapefruit and pine lingers with light malt and light oak.

This is everything I look for in an imperial IPA. Aroma of grapefruits and sugar. Pours bright orange with a small but foamy head. Tastes sweet with plenty of bitter citrus and malt. I love this beer.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful clear golden with a thick, fine-bubbled, off-white head that sticks around and leaves some respectable lacing. Aroma is seriously hoppy with a firm undertone of grapefruit and more than a hint of sour orange. Flavor is about half strongly hoppy and half grapefruit, and fairly bitter but having just a whisper of honey sweetness. Texture is ragged and fizzy, leaving behind a hop-bitter tingle. If you love hoppy beers, this will help you deal with any crisis!

Draft at Toad in the Hole. Billed as "Imperial IPA aged on Oak." Hazy deep gold with medium white head and prodigious lace. Pleasing fresh stonefruit aroma mostly overarches nacho cheeziness. Flavors are similarly conflicted but largely positive; juicy peach and simple stemmy bitterness squash bilious and plasticky elements. Finish is exemplary for style and leaves one craving the next gulp. Without having tried the original beer, I can propound that this is a judicious and advantageous application of oak aging.

On tap at the Bistro Barrel Aged Fest. Pours a bright clear golden color with a nicely formed one-finger white head and decent lacing. The aroma is nicely hoppy with citrus, pine, and tropical fruits, along with some sweet malt and oaky barrel. The flavor has a sweet malt base with oak, vanilla, and coconut, along with a big, surprisingly fresh citrus and pine hop kick. Medium-plus body with a long resinous finish and soft carbonation. An excellent beer. I always seem to like -bal aged DIPAs more than I expect to.

Pours attractive light copper with a cream colored head. Decent citrus hop nose with caramel malt. Fuller in the flavor with citrus and pine, followed by smooth and light vanilla and oak. Dry finish.

On tap at the Bistro BA festival. Pours clear copper with little head. Smells like pale ale on oak. Flavor is mild caramel with hop and oak. It’s like an IPA. The oak astringency adds a nice touch.
