Tastes and smells like an IPA, no clue as to the reduced alcohol. Full hoppy aroma, hops and malt blend well in overall presentation. I can see why this is a session ale, perfect, full of flavor, good looking, low alcohol. Well done!

Can from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl Hwy). Light tangy bitter nose, some light floral sweet notes. Medium amber color, thick rocky head. Light balanced initial / chewy malt and some tangy fruit / mild bitter finish. Thin-medium body. Not quite as light as it thinks it is. What’s that space monkey for?

Cool 12 oz can with a Monkey on it. The world needs more cans with Monkeys on it. Pours a slightly hazed orangish amber pour with a medium white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of orange, citrus, pine. Some floral and tropical fruit notes. Flavor is medium bitterness with mild malt sweetness. Finishes somewhat bitter.

Can at Brewforia Eagle. Hazy light golden. Firm white head. Plenty of bitterness but not a lot of fresh hop flavor. Moderate light malt body. Pretty bitter to be "sessionable" but not big or hoppy enough for an IPA. Somewhat soapy/perfumy hop flavors.

Little brother to Brew Free or Die. Juicy while not being stronger in alcohol. Slight metal hop taste. Nice piney nose. White foam with sticky lacing. Bit of sweetness.

Great copper color when poured. Piney hops flavor and quite bold taste for such a low abv beer

Pine needles, grass, citrus, and a little caramel malt in the aroma. Taste is bitter but relatively mild, with a little underlying malt sweetness. Some fruit bitterness in the finish. Plenty tasty for a relatively low alcohol beer.

12 ounce can poured into a teku glass. Pours a clear copper with a fluffy white head of foam. The aroma is perfume and crockery. Herbal as well. Tastes fairly bitter and resinous. Light to medium body. Very carbonated. Maybe a little over carbonated.

July 4th, 2012 - Happy topic beer drinking 4th of July! Why not celebrate a national holiday of independence by drinking in a small part of the constitution? After having sampled both the Back to Black and watermelon beer, I wasn’t sure which direction the Bitter American would go: excellence or hideousness, so I went to the tasting voting booth. The Bitter American features a very spicy aroma, dusted with the scents of sandalwood and patchouli, and all the aromas I recall from hippy markets ranging from New York to Tokyo. The flavor is similarly spiced, though not in an unappealing way, thanks in part to the addition of mild apple flavors, and touches of both clove and cinnamon. It’s a perky beer for sure, and requires breaks between sips, but quite enjoyable, and much more in the Back to Black’s camp.
